Community Service Highlights
Hoko Fanaika participated in several community service events in the local area. Fanaika took part in the LSU Move-In Day last fall to help incoming freshmen move into dorms and feel welcomed to the LSU community. He also volunteered for the "Big Buddy Day of the Mentor" and "Touring with the Tigers" programs in which he gave a tour of the campus to a local child and encouraged him to set goals and follow his dreams. Fanaika participated in the "Thanksgiving with the Tigers" event to help serve Thanksgiving dinner for the less fortunate in the city, and he devoted his spring with a semester-long commitment with Big Buddy in which he mentored local youth.
A junior college transfer, Fanaika enters his second and final season at LSU, and he is on track to graduate in spring 2015 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies.
A 6-6, 330-pound offensive guard, Fanaika played in 12 games as a junior in 2013. He was a key contributor on special teams units and served as a primary alternate along the offensive line. Fanaika finished 2013 with two knockdown blocks, earning one each against Kent State and Furman. He enters the 2014 season in a heated competition with fellow senior Evan Washington for the starting spot at right guard.
