SEC Gymnast of the Week

Myia Hambrick • LSU
Junior • Temple, Ga.

Hambrick captured the seventh all-around of her career and 20th individual title total with a 39.575 Friday night. Her score tied for the second best in the country and the best overall amongst SEC gymnasts. She finished in a tie for second on vault with a 9.925 for the fourth-best score in the country. Hambrick helped the team set the best vault score in a season opener in school history. The 9.875 on beam also went toward the 49.450, which was the best event score in a season opener in school history. Hambrick's scores in each rotation helped the Tigers to the best vault and beam scores in the country as well as the second-best bars and floor scores. Overall, the junior was a part of the team that finished with the best season opening score in school history. It was also the best team score this early in the season by an NCAA team in the last 20 seasons.

SEC Specialist of the Week

Sarah Finnegan • LSU
Sophomore • Lee's Summit, Mo.

Finnegan took the uneven bars and beam titles in the Tigers' 197.825-193.600 victory over Georgia. She finished with a score of 9.95 on beam for the best in the country and 9.900 on bars for the fourth-best in the country. The wins were the sophomore's fourth and fifth individual titles, respectively. Finnegan's score on beam helped the Tigers to the best event score in the country and the best for the team in a season opener in school history.

SEC Freshman of the Week

Kennedi Edney • LSU
Freshman • Chino, Calif.

In her first collegiate meet, Edney secured the vault title and finished tied for second on uneven bars. She posted a 9.95 on vault with her Yurchenko 1 ½ to tie for the best score in the country. As a part of the vault lineup, Edney helped LSU to its best score on the event in a season opener in school history. LSU's vault score ranks as the best in the country. Edney totaled a solid 9.875 on bars to tie for the 15th-best score in the country. The Tigers' bars score ranks second in the country.
