Georgia picked to win 2017 SEC Men's Tennis title

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southeastern Conference announced the men's tennis coaches' preseason poll, Wednesday. Teams begin play this weekend with the official start, the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, taking place January 27-29.

The Georgia Bulldogs were picked as the overall champion. Last season, the Bulldogs went 24-5, 12-0 in the SEC. UGA is coming off the program's 39th SEC title and 23rd overall NCAA Semifinals appearance. Georgia has won 15-straight regular season matches against teams from the SEC. Perhaps even more impressive is that the Bulldogs have won 25-straight regular season home matches against conference foes - a streak that stretches all the way back to the 2012 season. They are currently ranked fifth in the Oracle ITA rankings.

The preseason poll is voted on by the men's tennis head coach at each institution and is based on a 13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 vote.
