SEC announces 2017 Men's Golf Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --The Southeastern Conference on Wednesday announced its annual Men's Golf Awards, which were voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.

The 2017 All-SEC teams and a complete list of awards are listed below.

NCAA Men's Regionals will be held May 15-17.

Alex Green, Alabama

  • Leads team in community service hours for the year ... member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee ... volunteered his time at the Halloween Extravaganza in each of the last two years ... worked with the Child Abuse Prevention Services last August.

Alvaro Ortiz, Arkansas

  • Is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee ... As a member of SAAC, he has helped organize Book Hogs, Operation Baton Rouge, Christmas Shop with Razorbacks at Toys-R-Us, Razorbuddies at local elementary schools and the Sweat Hogs program ... Is majoring in international business and holds a 3.158 grade point average.

Matt Gilchrest, Auburn

  • Read to elementary school students at Auburn Early Education Center; Stuffed backpacks of food with the Jason Dufner Foundation; City of Auburn Downtown Trick or Treat-signed autographed/took pics; SAAC rep & assists with the planning of the AUPSY's, Beat Bama Food Drive, Toys for Tot Drive and annual Student-Athlete Day.

Ryan Orr, Florida

  • The senior has racked up 16.5 hours of community service and recently received the "Florida Way Award" for the second year in a row for representing his team in the highest manner.

Matthew Beringer, Georgia

  • Ramsey Schoalrship for Academic and Athletic Excellence; Hunger Bowl - canned food drive benefitting the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia; Operation Christmas Child - stuffed boxes for children; Toiletry Collection for Project Safe through the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee; CURE at UGA - raise funds and awareness; UGA Special Olympics Prom and Baseball Games.

Stephen Stallings, Kentucky

  • Has spent numerous hours in the community throughout his career at UK ... Made dinner for residents at Ronald McDonald House and cleaned the facility ... Packed food and delivered it to a local elementary schools in conjunction with God's Pantry ... Participated in the UK Blanket Project that saw SA's make blankets and deliver them to local children's hospitals around Christmas ... Volunteered at the First Tee Program ... Was a participant at the National Student-Athlete Day Craft Center Event ... Also volunteers on the road at events such as the Schenkel Invitational Junior Golf Clinic.

Ross Bell, Mississippi State

  • Sprint with Super Gabe 5K; Read Across America; United We Feed; M-Club; TK Martin SUPER Fun Run; Greek Week Food Drive.

Hayden Buckley, Missouri

  • SAAC Community Service chairman. SAAC representative 2015-17. Volunteer with Caleb's Pitch (Children's Hospital visits), Special Olympics Rivalry Game (Mizzou vs. Arkansas), Columbia Public Schools Lunch Buddy, VA Hospital visit for 9/11, MKT Trail Clean Up (local trail).

Ben Dietrich, South Carolina

  • Led team with 56.5 community service hours during the 2016-17 Academic Year; Volunteered his time at Ft. Jackson, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Build-a-Bike, First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, Tunnel to Towers 5K and various team golf camps.

Juan Carlos Serrano, Tennessee

  • Serrano leads the Tennessee men's golf team in community outreach this school year. He has participated in a variety of events, including a 10-day trip to Brazil with UT's VOLeaders group of student-athlete ambassadors to work with local NGOs and learn more about the Brazilian culture. Serrano has also worked extensively with She Wins Mexico, which is an organization that seeks to empower women through education and sports. He helped host UT's annual Voloween event, a safe and fun Halloween event for local Knoxville children. Serrano also served as a mentor and golf instructor for the First Tee of Tennessee Clinic, serving the local Boys and Girls Club.

Connor Black, Texas A&M

  • During his time in Aggieland, Connor Black has made an impact not only on the golf course but also as a leader in the local Bryan/College Station community ... He has served as the team's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative for each of the last two seasons ... Participated in Aggies Can, the nation's largest student-run food drive ... Additionally, took time to work with Texas A&M's BUILD, a student-led organization aimed at unifying Texas A&M's student body in the goal of building and sending out portable medical clinics around the world in honor of those who lost their lives in the collapse of the Aggie Bonfire ... Black is currently pursuing his degree in English.

Will Gordon, Vanderbilt

  • Member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee...Helped organize the Commodores' annual Holiday Party which benefits a local elementary school...Was a part of donation drives that helped victims of the floods in Baton Rouge and the fires in Gatlinburg...Was a part of the Dance Marathon which benefited the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital...Participated in Trick or Treat with the Greeks with local children.
