LINCOLN, Neb. - No. 14 Nebraska claimed a 3-0 win over the Mizzou soccer team Sunday night at Hibner Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Tigers fall to 2-1-1 overall with the loss, while the Huskers improve to 4-0-0.

Nebraska struck only 1:04 into the match when Haley Hanson beat redshirt senior keeper Kristen Rivers (Lawrenceville, Georgia) for a 1-0 Husker advantage.

The Tigers came out strong in the second half, with numerous chances over the first 13 minutes of the frame. However, two Nebraska goals over a three minute span midway through the half put the match out of reach for Mizzou.

Mizzou Head Coach Bryan Blitz "Our team learned a really good lesson against a very good Nebraska team. We put the schedule together for a reason, so we're prepared for the SEC. We're learning how winning is hard. You have to play right from the beginning, you can't give up a goal in the first minute. I believe that our team will take that lesson."

Seniors Savannah Trujillo (Kansas City, Missouri) and Kaitlyn Clark (Liberty, Missouri) both recorded a team-best two shots in the match Freshman Zoe Cross (Pease Pottage, England) earned the first start of her career Sophomore Peyton Joseph (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) played all 90 minutes. She has now played every minute of three of Mizzou's four games UP

The Tigers return to Walton Stadium to host defending national champion Southern Cal on Friday, Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. Missouri will host Mizzou Soccer Madness for the match, which includes a pregame military flyover, free t-shirts to the first 200 fans, a face painter, balloon artist and postgame autographs. Additionally, Missouri students are encouraged to attend the Welcome Back Tailgate at 6 p.m.
