Mizzou Cross Country athletes to watch

Zach Cook, R-Jr., Columbia, Mo.

  • Mizzou's highest returning finisher from the NCAA Midwest Regional, finishing third for Mizzou and 78th overall with a 10k personal record of 31:58.1.
  • Set an 8k personal record at the Commodore Classic, finishing third for Mizzou and 36th overall at 25:39.8.
  • Finished fifth for Mizzou and 43rd overall at the SEC Championships with an 8k personal record time of 25:41.7.

Marc Dubrick, R-Sr., DeKalb, Ill.

  • Mizzou's highest returning finisher from SEC Championships, finishing fourth for Mizzou and 40th overall at 25:34.4.
  • Set a 10k personal record at the NCAA Midwest Regional, crossing the finish line at 33:23.5.

Jamie Kempfer, Sr., Festus, Mo.

  • Earned All-America status at the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championships by finishing 27th with a 6k personal record time of 20:16.3.
  • Earned All-SEC and All-Midwest Regional honors at the SEC Championships and NCAA Midwest Regional, finishing fifth in both meets.
  • Set a 5k personal record at the Chile Pepper Festival, finishing 13th with a time of 16:55.73.
  • Finished ninth in the 10k at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships to claim her second All-America recognition.

Karissa Schweizer, Sr., Urbandale, Iowa

  • Won the NCAA National Championship, NCAA Midwest Regional and SEC Championship titles in 2016, setting a 6k personal record at the NCAA meet with a time of 19:41.6.
  • Was named the SEC Women's Runner of the Year, NCAA Midwest Regional Women's Runner of the Year and Honda Sport Award winner for cross country, in addition to numerous other awards.
  • Went on to win the 5k NCAA Indoor and Outdoor national titles, becoming just the fourth female in NCAA history to win the distance triple crown.
