SEC Player of the Week - Georgia's Yante Maten
Maten, a 6-foot-8, 243-pound senior forward from Pontiac, Mich., averaged 27 points and nine rebounds in leading the Bulldogs to wins over Georgia Tech and Temple. Maten led the Bulldogs to their most lopsided win over its bitter rival in more than a half-century, with a game-high 24 points and a team-high six rebounds versus Georgia Tech while connecting on 69.2 percent of his shots from the floor. He exploded for a season-high 30 points and also collected a game-high 12 boards against Temple, which entered the game at No. 12 in the NCAA RPI. He notched his fifth double-double of the season and fifth career 30-point outing. Maten ascended into Georgia's top-10 career leaders for points and rebounds during the week
SEC Freshman of the Week - Texas A&M's Savion Flagg
Flagg, a 6-foot-7, 217-pound forward from Alvin, Texas, averaged 16.5 points and nine rebounds while shooting 62.5 percent from the field in leading the Aggies to wins over Northern Kentucky and Buffalo. With the Aggies short-handed due, Flagg stepped up to produce his first career double-double with a 12-point, 10-rebound outing against Northern Kentucky before registering a personal-best 21 points in the win over Buffalo.
