CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. -- The No. 9 Texas A&M softball team opened the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a thrilling 5-3 victory over Notre Dame Thursday.

The Aggie (10-0) offense was led by Sarah Hudek, who went 2-for-3 with a go-ahead two-run dinger in the sixth. Tori Vidales continued her torrid start to the year with a two-RBI single and Kristen Cuyos drove in a runner on her second double of the season.

In the circle, Samantha Show recorded her third victory of the season, striking out six in a complete game effort.

The Aggies fell to Nebraska, 6-3, Thursday night to close out day one of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

After falling behind 2-0 in the third, the Aggies (10-1) tied the game on a sacrifice fly by Payton McBride and an Ashley Walters RBI single. A four-run fifth inning doomed the Aggies as Nebraska (9-2) took a 6-2 lead.

The Aggies mounted a two-out rally in the sixth, but couldn't push any runs across and had runners on the corners after scoring a run in the seventh. Walters finished the game with three hits and a RBI as Sarah Hudek and Keeli Milligan each recorded two hits. In the circle, Trinity Harrington suffered her first loss of the season, giving up six runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings.
