Player of the Week: Luke Heyer, Kentucky
Kentucky's Luke Heyer was named the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic Most Outstanding Player after he hit .727 with a 1.727 slugging percentage (five runs, six RBI, two doubles, three home runs). For the week, Heyer batted .667 (10-of-15) in four games with six runs, six RBI, two doubles (one a ground rule double) and three home runs. Heyer recorded the game-winning RBI in wins over #19 Houston and #20 Sam Houston State.
Pitcher of the Week: Bryce Montes De Oca, Missouri
Missouri's Bryce Montes De Oca started the Tigers' first no-hitter since 2005, pitching the first 7.0 innings of Mizzou's 10th no-hitter in program history Friday night against UMBC. He struck out a career-high 12 batters while walking just two in the longest outing of his career. His 7.0 hitless innings came against a UMBC that pounded out 13 hits the following day against Mizzou pitching.
Freshman of the Week: Casey Martin, Arkansas
Arkansas' Casey Martin started all five games against Dayton and USC in the Razorback infield and led the team in hitting (.444) and slugging (.474) over the five-game stretch. He had a two home run game against Dayton (Feb. 28) to finish with six RBIs, becoming the first Razorback since Chad Spanberger in the SEC Tournament semifinals (May 27, 2017) to hit two homers in the same game. He also stole two bases against Dayton (March 1) becoming the first Razorback to steal two bases in a game since 2016. Martin was 8-for-18 on the week with seven RBIs.
