South Carolina's Gabriel Friedrich has now won five consecutive singles matches, winning in straight sets in four of those five matchups. He has defeated three consecutive ranked opponents all from the Gamecocks' No. 1 position with a pair of top-25 victories last weekend. Friedrich is now 4-1 on the season against ranked opponents and is 19-5 overall on the season. Friedrich's win over 11th ranked Wayne Montgomery on Sunday helped South Carolina take down No. 17 Georgia, its first win over the Bulldogs since 2005. jumped from No. 66 to No. 29 in this week's ITA top-125 singles rankings and the pair of Friedrich and Yancy Dennis moved up to No. 34 in the latest doubles rankings.
Freshman of the Week
Florida's Oliver Crawford dominated on the court by posting a perfect 4-0 record (2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles) to begin his SEC career. Oliver, who is unranked, defeated No. 28 Jan Zielinski to clinch the match for Florida and give the Gators their first win against UGA at home since 2010. Earlier in the evening against UGA Oliver and Chase Perez Blanco earned the clinching point in doubles. Against a ranked Tennessee team, Oliver was just as electric with blow out wins in both doubles and singles. In singles play Oliver has now won three straight matches (during the streak one match was unfinished but he led one set to none) and in doubles he has won five of his last six matches.
