Co-Player of the Week: JJ Schwarz, Florida
Florida's JJ Schwarz led the team with six RBI last week and hit .500 in a Top 10 road win at Florida State and a weekend sweep against SEC East rival Missouri. In the sweep against Missouri, he went 5-for-10 with two doubles, a home run and four RBI. His RBI single in the sixth inning at FSU provided the winning run and he added a solo homer in the 8th inning. In game one of the doubleheader on Saturday, Schwarz had a two-run double in the first inning and a solo home run in the sixth inning that gave UF a 3-2 lead before they blew the game open in the seventh.
Co-Player of the Week: Austin Bain, LSU
LSU's Austin Bain led the Tigers to a 4-0 record last week, batting .500 (9-for-18) with two doubles, two runs and eight RBI. He also earned a save in LSU's 2-0 win over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night, firing a perfect ninth inning to preserve a 2-0 victory. In LSU's three-game SEC weekend sweep over Tennessee, Bain hit .533 (8-for-15) with two doubles, two runs and eight RBI. He was a catalyst in the Tigers' thrilling comeback win over Tennessee on Sunday, providing a two-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning to draw LSU within one run and set the stage for the game-winning hit two batters later.
Pitcher of the Week: Chris Machamer, Kentucky
Kentucky's Chris Machamer went 1-0 with two saves while not allowing a run in 5.1 innings last week. In a critical weekend series at No. 18 Georgia Machamer earned the win in Friday night's series-opening 6-4 comeback win in 11 innings. He entered in the ninth inning and allowed just one hit while striking out five in 3.0 innings of work. In Saturday's second game Machamer entered 24 hours later and slammed the door closed on a 1-0 victory that gave UK its third series win over a ranked team this season Machamer entered with two on and two out in the eighth and recorded a strikeout. He induced two infield popups and a comebacker to complete the shutout and earn his sixth save of the season.
Freshman of the Week: Austin Martin, Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt's Austin Martin posted a .462 average and .588 on-base percentage while leading Vanderbilt to a 3-1 week including a series victory against No. 5 Ole Miss. He logged at least one hit in all four games while extending his team-best hit streak to nine games and reached base streak to 12 games. After going 3-for-4 in Friday's loss to Ole Miss, Martin reached base three times, drove in a run and stole two bases while helping Vanderbilt to an 8-7 win in the middle game.
