BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Nine former student-athletes from seven SEC institutions were named to World Series active rosters released Tuesday by the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
South Carolina and Vanderbilt each have two representatives on the rosters, while Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Missouri have one apiece. A total of 18 former student-athletes from SEC schools have been named to World Series rosters in the last two years.
The Red Sox roster includes Andrew Benintendi (Arkansas), Jackie Bradley Jr. (South Carolina), Ian Kinsler (Missouri), Mitch Moreland (Mississippi State), Steve Pearce (South Carolina), Drew Pomeranz (Ole Miss) and David Price (Vanderbilt). SEC players represented on the Dodgers' roster are Walker Buehler (Vanderbilt) and Alex Wood (Georgia).
