SEC gets five volleyball teams in NCAA tournament

Five teams from the Southeastern Conference will represent the conference in the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship.

This marks the most teams from the SEC to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament since 2014.

SEC Champion Kentucky earned the No. 10 seed, while Florida, Missouri, South Carolina, and Tennessee garnered at-large bids to the tournament.

Kentucky will host first- and second-round matches in Lexington starting on Friday, Nov. 30. Purdue will face East Tennessee State at 5 p.m. ET, followed by Murray State against Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. ET. The winners of Friday's matches will play in the second round at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Florida, which secured its 28th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament, will travel to Orlando, Fla. to take on Florida State on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 4:30 p.m. ET. Florida Gulf Coast will face No. 13 UCF at 7 p.m. ET. The second-round will feature the first-round winners on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. ET.

Missouri, competing in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year and the 15th time in program history, will take on Arizona in the first round on Friday, Nov. 30 at 4:30 p.m. CT. No. 7 Nebraska will host Hofstra for a 7 p.m. CT match. The winners will compete on Saturday, Dec. 1 in the second round at 7 p.m. CT in Lincoln, Neb.

South Carolina, making its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2002, will take on Colorado in the first round on Friday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. ET in Minneapolis, Minn. Bryant will compete against No. 2 Minnesota at 8 p.m. ET. The winners will face off in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. ET

Tennessee, with its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012, will travel to Pullman, Wash. to face Colorado State in the first round of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. ET. Northern Arizona will face host No. 16 Washington State for a 10 p.m. ET match. The winners will compete on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. ET in the second round.

Teams winning both first- and second-round matches will move on to regional play Dec. 7 and 8. Regionals for the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship will be held at four non-predetermined campus sites, which will be announced after play concludes, on Saturday, Dec. 1. At each site, four teams will compete in single-elimination regional semifinal competition.

The regional winners will advance to the national semifinals and championship final, hosted by Minnesota, on Dec. 13 and 15 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The national semifinal matches will broadcast on ESPN, and the championship match will broadcast on ESPN2.
