SEC Gymnast of the Week - LSU's Sarah Finnegan, a senior from Lee's Summit, Mo., took home titles on beam (9.95), floor (9.95), and all-around (39.675) in LSU's season-opening win over. No. 8 California. Finnegan also finished second on vault and bars.
SEC Specialist of the Week - Missouri's Britney Ward, a senior from Ozark, Mo., claimed the beam event title as Mizzou took first in a quad meet against No. 20 Arizona State, No. 23 Minnesota and UIC in Tempe, Ariz. Ward anchored the Tigers' first rotation with a 9.95, a score that held up as the highest of the night on beam. The win was Ward's 29th event title of her Tiger career, including her 16th on beam. It also marked the sixth time in her career she scored a 9.95 or better, which ranks as the second most in Mizzou history. Ward also ranks tied for second nationally on the apparatus after one week of the season.
SEC Freshman of the Week - Georgia's Rachael Lukacs, a freshman Hillsborough, N.J., helped the GymDogs to a win over No. 18 Ohio State with their best opening meet score since 2007. Lukacs tied for second on the vault and tied for third on floor, finishing only behind fellow Georgia teammates. She also tied for seventh place on bars.
