  • Nearly 13,000 elementary schools and public libraries across the nine-state region have been sent a free copy of the SEC Kid's College educational CD-Rom. This unique software is the cornerstone of the league's Education Initiative announced at the 2002 SEC Football Media Days.

Targeted to elementary students in grades K-3, the software captivates children by using their favorite sports with SEC teams and famous mascots to reinforce skills taught in the classroom. Each CD-ROM has a school-wide license, which allows the software to be loaded on every computer in the school or library.

The software has been sent to the principal of every elementary school across the nine-state SEC region. With over 8,000 questions that correlate to national education standards, the program focuses on language arts, math, reading and sportsmanship. Once the software is installed, teachers are encouraged to register for free additional content.

The SEC recognizes the responsibility and opportunity teachers have to affect the future of our children. The goal of this initiative is to make a significant contribution by assisting teachers who are charged with the task of providing a solid educational foundation for their students.
