The Southeastern Conference and its 12 member institutions understand and appreciate the opportunity that K-3 teachers have to positively affect the future of our children. Throughout the nine state region of the SEC, the impact of your valuable efforts is recognized in collegiate level classrooms, sporting events and all other aspects of campus life.

Welcome to Kid's College™! Kid's College™ is an exciting new interactive educational CD-ROM. It's a FREE gift from the Southeastern Conference with a school wide license allowing the software to be loaded on every computer in your school! This is the first phase of an EDUCATION INITIATIVE the SEC is sponsoring during the 2002-2003 school year. In the future we will be delivering highly motivational diagnostic assessments aligned to State and National Standards through our Kid's College™ platform. These assessment modules can be used to identify the relative strengths and weaknesses of students, thereby driving student achievement.

Specific examples of use in your classroom are:

  • Print the activity sheets for students who need additional practice in reinforcing skills that have been taught. Kid's College™ will motivate your students to be engaged in playing the game for long periods of time.
  • Use of a child-centered format that provides opportunities for remediation and enrichment make learning fun!
  • Use it as a reward for good performance, behavior, etc.
  • Familiar sports and characters allow for greater motivation and reinforcement of math and language arts skills and enhancing content skills
  • Great for independent practice tailored to the specific learning needs of students.
  • Create team-building skills through creation of friendly competitions based on the elements of the curriculum topic being taught. For example, a class could be divided into their favorite teams 2 teams (in Alabama it might be Auburn vs. Alabama students, Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt, etc). Competitions can be within your class or vs. another homeroom.
  • Create discussion or creative writing opportunity with emphasis on the character emphasis aspects that exist throughout the game like respect, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
