SEC Education Initiative Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SEC Education Initiative?
A program completely sponsored by the Southeastern Conference and the twelve member institutions. This program utilizes the platform of intercollegiate athletics to provide teachers with relevant resources they can use to educate and prepare children for life. The SEC will place educational software in every elementary school and public library across the nine-state SEC region, representing nearly 15,000 different outlets. Kid’s College™ specifically designed this educational CD-ROM for the K-3 student. The program captivates and motivates children using their favorite sports with SEC teams and famous mascots to reinforce skills taught in the classroom. Each CD-ROM will have a school-wide license, which allows the software to be loaded on every computer in the school or library.

Who will receive the CD?
Every school and public library in the nine-state SEC region. Both public and private schools will receive a copy. Nearly 13,000 locations.

Who will the CD be sent to at my school?
The principal.

I haven’t received one. What do I do?
Check with your principal or your technology coordinator. If they haven’t received the CD, please contact us by clicking the “Contact Us” link located on the left menu bar (support@kids-college.com).

Why should I register?
Kid’s College will automatically download a free Art Studio section where you can create cards and posters that you can print and give to friends or hang on your wall.

Also, the SEC will automatically enter you into two drawings.

a) a weekly SEC Prize Package drawing (during the months of September- May) one teacher will be selected to receive a free SEC Prize Package.

b) Grand prize drawings for two tickets to the following SEC events:

2002 SEC Football Championship (December 7, 2002 Atlanta)
2003 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament (March 13-16, 2003 New Orleans)
2003 SEC Baseball Tournament (May 21-25, 2003 Birmingham)

How do I register?
You must have the software installed on your computer to register. There are two designated registration locations within Kid’s College™ to register. You must be connected to the Internet in order to register.

1) The “Enrollment Screen” at the beginning of the game features a “REGISTER” button located at the lower right hand corner.

2) The “Art Studio” section features a “REGISTER” button as well.

Click the REGISTER button and follow the directions to automatically receive your free content.

Do I need the CD in the drive to play it?
As long as you are a school and have received the free version from the SEC, you do NOT need the CD in the drive.

What is the goal of this initiative?
The 12 member institutions that make up the Southeastern Conference recognize the responsibility and opportunity teachers have to affect the future of our children. The goal is to make a significant contribution across the southeast by assisting teachers who are charged with the task of providing a solid educational foundation for their students. Not only does this software feature the core educational essentials, it also addresses character and sportsmanship.
