The Georgia Dome

For the eighth straight year, the Georgia Dome will host the SEC Football Championship Game.

The Georgia Dome is the largest cable-supported domed stadium in the world. The state of Georgia owns the facility, and it is operated by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. Combined with the adjacent Georgia World Congress Center and Centennial Olympic Park in the heart of downtown Atlanta, the three facilities are one of the largest sports, entertainment and convention complexes in the world.

The Georgia Dome holds 71,500, but it still has an intimate feel due to extraordinary architectural planning. The stadium is oval, with seats set close to the field. The Teflon/fiberglass roof gives a sense of closure, yet still allows in sunlight for natural illumination. And the sidelines are the best in football, which translates into audience accessibility for any event.

The SEC Championship Game will be played at the Dome through 2005. The 1997 SEC Football Championship Game established a Georgia Dome sporting event attendance record of 74,896.

The Georgia Dome will also play host to the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament in five of the next seven years - 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 - and the NCAA Men's Final Four in 2002 and 2007.
