    Enjoying continued success and increased popularity, the 2002 Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Tournament moves to Nashville, Tenn. The Gaylord Entertainment Center (16,304) will serve as the tournament's home.

    The 2001 tournament, played at The Pyramid in Memphis, proved to be another success for the league. The total tournament attendance of 32,793 ranks fifth all-time in tournament history.

    The SEC Women's Basketball Tournament has been played in Chattanooga, Tenn., in seven of the last nine seasons. The top four attended tournaments have been in Chattanooga with the 1999 tournament drawing a league-record 43,221 fans.

    The 1999 SEC Championship Game, with Tennessee defeating Georgia, 85-69, continues to be the highest attended championship game in SEC history with 11,163 fans in attendance.

    The winner of the 11-game tournament will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The tournament seeds and conference champion will be determined by the 14-game regular-season SEC schedule. The top four seeds earn a first-round bye.

    The entire 2002 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament will be carried with live television coverage. (Comcast Sports Southeast will broadcast the second session of the first round.) FOX Sports Net South along with presenting sponsor Worldspan, continues its dedication to SEC events by televising the first two games of the opening round and all four second round games as well as both semifinal games. The championship game will once again be televised on ESPN2.

    Tickets for this year's event are: reserved tournament book, $70; general admission Dr Pepper Six-Pack tournament book, $40; reserved single-session (six sessions total), $15; general admission single-session, $10. Tickets can be purchased online at secsports.com or at any of the 12 SEC school ticket offices.
