    Birmingham, AL (AP) -- Ben Harrison hit a three-run homer and Jimmy Ramshaw pitched a complete game as Florida beat Georgia 7-2 in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Wednesday.

    The third-seeded Gators (41-15) advance to play the Alabama-Mississippi State winner Thursday. No. 6 Georgia (30-26) faces the loser in an elimination game.

    The Bulldogs were only outhit 6-5, but committed four errors for their sixth straight loss.

    Florida was trailing 2-0 when Harrison homered over the right-center field fence. The Gators added a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth.

    Ramshaw (5-3) allowed five hits and one earned run, striking out seven.

    Jason Fellows (1-2) took the loss, allowing three runs in 3-1/3 innings.

    Jon Armitage was 3-for-3 with a run scored for Georgia.

    #2 Alabama 12, #7 Mississippi State 2

    Birmingham, AL (AP) -- Scott McClanahan hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Adam Pavkovich was 3-for-3 to lead Alabama to a 12-2 first-round victory over Mississippi State in the Southeastern Conference tournament Wednesday.

    The Crimson Tide (45-12) meet Florida on Thursday while the Bulldogs play Georgia in an elimination game.

    The game was called in the eighth inning under the 10-run rule.

    Pavkovich scored three runs and drove in two with a pair of doubles to pace Alabama's 18-hit attack.

    Brent Boyd was 3-for-5, also scoring three times.

    Taylor Tankersley (8-4) allowed two runs in 7-1/3 innings despite walking six batters and giving up nine hits.

    Mississippi State (33-23), which won last year's tournament behind dominant pitching, used three pitchers and none of them lasted three innings.

    Starter Tanner Brock (7-5) allowed six hits and seven runs in 2 1-3 innings.

    Robby Goodson drove in both runs for the Bulldogs.

    The Tide showed no signs of the offensive doldrums from last weekend's three-game sweep by LSU, when they totaled just six runs.

    The seventh-seeded Bulldogs had their five-game winning streak snapped.

    #4 LSU 2, #5 Auburn 1

    Birmingham, AL (AP) -- Sophomore pitcher Lane Mestepey threw a complete-game six hitter and Sean Barker slugged his sixth homer of the season to lead LSU to a 2-1 win over Auburn in the first round of the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament Wednesday evening.

    LSU (39-17) took the lead in the fourth inning after Wally Pontiff led off with a walk and Barker hit an 0-2 pitch over the centerfield wall to build a 2-0 lead.

    Auburn (34-23) cut the lead to 2-1 in the seventh inning after Trent Pratt led off with a double to right center and scored on a RBI single by Scott Schade.

    Pontiff, Barker and Chris Phillips were the lone Tigers to record hits for LSU

    Schade led Auburn with two hits.

    Auburn's (34-23) Colby Paxton (8-5) allowed just three hits and recorded a career-high nine strike-outs, but got stuck with the loss.

    LSU advances to face the winner of South Carolina-Arkansas at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Auburn will face the loser of the same game at 1 p.m.

    #1 South Carolina 10, #8 Arkansas 1

    Birmingham, AL (AP) -- Senior Gary Bell recorded a career-high 13 strike-outs and scattered six hits to lead top-seeded South Carolina to a 10-1 win over eighth-seed Arkansas in the first-round of the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament Wednesday night.

    The Gamecocks (45-12) scored two runs in each of the first, third and fifth innings to jump out to a 6-0 lead, highlighted by Garris Gonce's 15th homer of the season in the fifth inning.

    Arkansas (30-15) scored its only run in the top of the seventh inning. South Carolina answered with four in the bottom of the inning, on a pair of Razorback errors.

    South Carolina was led by Drew Meyer, Trey Dyson and Kevin Melillo, who each finished with a pair of hits. Cody Clark went 3-for-3 and a RBI to lead Arkansas.

    Charlie Isaacson (4-7) lasted 6-1/3 innings, giving up seven runs for the loss.

    USC faces LSU at 8 p.m. on Thursday, while Arkansas will play Auburn in an elimination game at 1 p.m.
