    #7 Mississippi State 10, #6 Georgia 3

Birmingham, AL (AP) -- Chad Henry went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and Paul Maholm pitched a complete game as Mississippi State remained alive in the Southeastern Conference tournament with a 10-3 victory over Georgia on Thursday.

Seventh-seeded Mississippi State (34-23-1) scored two runs in each of the first two innings and added four in the eighth.

Georgia (30-27), which has lost seven straight, finally got on the board with three runs in the eighth. But Maholm retired the final six batters, giving up six hits while striking out six and walking two.

Jon Mungle was 3-for-4 for Mississippi State, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Bobby Goodson also had a pair of RBIs.

Adam Swann was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Georgia.

Mississippi State plays the Florida-Alabama loser in another elimination game on Friday night.

The Bulldogs will likely start Chris Young, who will be making his second career start. Young, the MVP of last year's SEC tournament, shut down Mississippi on Sunday in a game the Bulldogs had to win to reach the tournament.

Georgia, meanwhile, must hope for an NCAA regional bid.
