  • Ten NCAA men's teams and nine women's teams competed in postseason play in 2001. The SEC led all conferences in total number of teams in postseason play. The Big East and Big Ten conferences each had 17 teams in postseason action. The SEC's 12 NCAA bids (six men's/six women's) were matched only by the Atlantic Coast, Big Ten and Big 12 conferences. It marked the sixth time in the last seven years the SEC has been at the top among conferences in postseason bids.

  • The SEC led the nation in non-conference winning percentage in both men's (119-28, .810 winning percentage) and women's (137-42, .765 winning percentage) basketball last year.

  • During the last eight seasons, the SEC has the highest winning percentage among all conferences in the NCAA Tournament. The league has a 75-38 record (.664 winning percentage) in the last eight tournaments. The SEC's 75 wins is tops, with the ACC the next closest at 69.

  • In the last nine NCAA Tournaments, the SEC has had nine Final Four appearances, tops in the nation along with the Atlantic Coast Conference. Four different SEC teams have appeared in the Final Four during that span - Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky and Mississippi State.

  • Since 1995, every SEC team has appeared in the NCAA Tournament at least once. Nine of the 12 SEC teams have appeared in the NCAA Tournament more than once during that span.

  • The SEC has sent six teams to the NCAA Tournament during the last three seasons. Eight different SEC teams have played in the NCAA Tournament during the last three seasons. Four SEC teams - Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky and Tennessee - have appeared in each of the last three NCAA Tournaments.
