Alabama Edges Missouri in WNIT

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- LaNisha Cartwell laid in a rebound with 6.1 seconds left, lifting Alabama to a 68-67 win over Missouri on Wednesday in the first round of the women's NIT.

Cartwell, who grabbed her eighth rebound on the play, scored 15 points. Beth Vice also had 15 points for the Crimson Tide (18-11).

Missouri's Melanie Fisher missed the front end of a one-and-one with her team leading 67-66 with 18.1 seconds left, setting up Cartwell's basket on Alabama's next possession.

Missouri (14-15) led 36-34 at halftime and took a five-point lead at the beginning of the second half on a Natalie Bright 3-pointer. Alabama then scored on its next nine possessions for a 52-48 lead with 15:01 left.

Alabama outrebounded Missouri 41-34 and shot 41.2 percent to Missouri's 48.2 percent.

Missouri had five players score in double figures, led by Kerensa Barr's 15 points.
