Team Notes 
ALABAMA Crimson Tide 
After taking a week off for final exams, the Crimson Tide return to action 
on Tuesday night at Jacksonville State before traveling to Cancun, Mexico to 
play in the Torneo Cancun de Basquetbol on Dec. 21-22.  UA's game with JSU 
marks the Tide's sixth game versus an in-state opponent this year. Bama has 
won 54 of its last 56 games against non-conference in-state opponents. 
Alabama is making its second appearance in the Cancun tournament having 
posted a 2-0 mark at the event during the 1999-2000 season.  Senior Shondra 
Johnson has scored 20+ points in three consecutive games 

ARKANSAS Lady Razorbacks 
The Lady Razorbacks got career games from sophomore Shameka Christon and 
senior Joy Oakley to hold of Western Michigan in overtime, 73-69.  Christon 
tied her career high with 11 rebounds, and picked a career high five steals. 
Christon led all scorers with 19 despite coming down with the flu.  Her 
block in overtime sealed the win for Arkansas.  Oakley had 14 points for a 
career high versus Western, including the go-ahead bucket in overtime. 
Oakley had a big week, pick up a career high six blocks at Tulsa with 12 
points.  Oakley's six blocks tied the Arkansas senior class record for 
blocks in a game. 

AUBURN Tigers 
Auburn is now 10-0 for the second straight season and the ninth time in 
school history.  The Tigers are also 75-2 in the last 77 game against 
non-SEC opponents in Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.  Auburn cracked the top 
25 last week for the first time since Jan. 8 of last season.  Tia Miller, a 
sophomore center, recorded her second double double with a career-high 19 
points and 12 rebounds in the 71-59 victory over No. 25 Florida State. 
Auburn ends a season-long four-game home strand on Thursday against Troy 
State before taking time off for the holidays and returning to action 
against Iowa State in the opening round of the Surf & Slam Classic in San 
Diego on Dec. 28. 

FLORIDA Lady Gators 
Florida plays two home games before its holiday break, hosting Elon on 
Tuesday and Colorado on Friday. UF did not play last week, which was final 
exam week. The home games are the first the Lady Gators are playing in 32 
days, having completed a seven-game road trip. Last week UF was ranked in 
the AP poll for the 100th time in program history. Former Lady Gator head 
coach Debbie Yow currently is the Athletics Director at the Univ. of 
Maryland, the opponent for Gator football team in the FedEx Orange Bowl on 
JANUARY 2. Brandi McCain has hit at least one 3-point field goal in 24 
consecutive games and Vanessa Hayden has blocked at least one shot in 26 
straight outings. 

GEORGIA Lady Bulldogs 
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-0 on the season with a 68-63 win over No. 13 
N.C. State on Sunday afternoon. Senior Camille Murphy scored eight of her 13 
points in OT, including 6-of-6 from the free throw line.  Tawana McDonald 
missed Sunday's game due to an injury to her knee cap suffered last week, 
snapping a streak of 50 consecutive wins. Freshman Kara Braxton posted her 
second straight double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds against the 
Wolfpack. The victory was the Lady Dogs' second OT win this season. Georgia 
improved to 17-6 all-time in OT games.  Georgia wraps up its pre-Christmas 
slate with a game at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., on Wednesday. 

KENTUCKY Lady Wildcats 
Kentucky snapped its two-game losing streak with a 66-61 win at Virginia 
Commonwealth on Sunday. Rita Adams played a complete game for the Wildcats 
charting a team-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 1-of-2 from 
three-point land and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. She swiped a 
career-high nine steals, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out six 
assists in the effort. SeSe Helm followed with 10 points, her eighth 
straight game with double digits. The Cats meet intrastate rival Louisville 
on Wednesday in Lexington in the 37th Battle of the Bluegrass. 

LSU Lady Tigers 
Sophomore Temeka Johnson saw her first action as a Lady Tiger on Sunday 
against Michigan. Despite only becoming eligible the day before, Johnson saw 
20 minutes of action with two points, two rebounds and a team-high seven 
assists. For the fifth time this season, at least four Lady Tigers scored in 
double-figures led by Roneeka Hodges with 17 points.  Doneeka Hodges posted 
15 points, Aiysha Smith had 14 and Kisha James had 12.  Unfortunately, LSU 
dropped to 0-3 against nationally ranked opponents this season. 

OLE MISS Lady Rebels 
After the first nine games of the season, Ole Miss has four players 
averaging double figures in scoring. Freshman Ally Kelly continues to lead 
Ole Miss with 11.4 points per game. Kelly is followed by a trio of seniors 
as Von Kirk (10.9), Saundra Jackson (10.8) and Sherika Wright (10.6) are all 
averaging more than 10 points per contest. With six blocks on the, 69-62, 
win over Chattanooga, the Lady Rebels have a total of 41 blocks just nine 
games into the season. Ole Miss recorded only 38 blocks all of last year. 
Freshman Amber Watts is leading the block party with 25 rejections.  Senior 
Saundra Jackson is leading the Lady Rebels in field goal percentage. The 6-4 
center has made 38-of-67 shots from the field. 

MISSISSIPPI STATE Lady Bulldogs 
The Lady Bulldogs won their fourth consecutive MSU Classic with a 78-73 
overtime victory against Montana. MSU had not played in an overtime contest 
since defeating Auburn, 74-68, on Jan. 27, 2000. Tan White earned the MSU 
Classic MVP honors averaging 20 points and 8.5 rebounds in the two games. 
Jennifer Fambrough also averaged 20 points in the weekend tournament. 
LaToya Thomas set a new career high with 22 rebounds against Montana, just 
four shy of the school record.  Thomas was named to the MSU Classic 
all-tournament team for the third straight year. 

SOUTH CAROLINA Lady Gamecocks 
With its two victories last week, #23 South Carolina extended its winning 
streak to four games and moved its overall record to 8-1 on the season. The 
team is enjoying its best start since the 1988-89 squad opened the season 
9-0. In a rare Saturday afternoon contest, USC bounced instate foe Wofford 
College, 77-53. Jocelyn Penn scored a career high 32 points while grabbing 
five steals. On Tuesday, the Lady Gamecocks defeated Temple, 68-65, as three 
players scored in double figures. Jocelyn Penn led the way with 16 points 
while Teresa Geter paced the rebounding with eight boards. 

TENNESSEE Lady Volunteers 
With the game against #6/5 Stanford, the Lady Vols began a stretch of eight 
out of 10 games versus ranked opponents over the next 31 days.  DePaul and 
Memphis are the only unranked foes appearing on the schedule until after 
Jan. 20, 2002.  Along the way UT faces #1 UConn, #6/5 Stanford, #8 Duke, #20 
Florida, #21 LSU, #23/24 South Carolina, #24/25 Old Dominion and #25 Auburn. 
With the victory over Stanford, UT has now won 20 consecutive games on the 
road.  Lady Vol 6-5 sophomore center Ashley Robinson has been cleared to 
play.  Robinson suffered a torn ACL on June 30, 2001, and had reconstructive 
surgery on July 12, 2001. 

VANDERBILT Commodores 
Vanderbilt plays Vermont on Saturday after 13 days off from competition. 
The team is in the middle of exams this week.  Vanderbilt's gametime at 
Texas Tech has changed to noon CT.  The Commodores were a major part of the 
Vanderbilt Student-Athlete Children's Party.  The team led Christmas Carols 
with 42 First Graders from Ross Elementary School before Santa arrived with 
gifts.  It marked the 11th annual VU Student-Athlete Children's Christmas 
Party with all student-athletes participating.  Each team purchased gifts 
from their personal funds for three underprivileged children.

Florida's Vanessa Hayden leads the conference in double-doubles this season. 
Hayden has had a double-double performance in seven of the Gators nine 
games.  Mississippi State's Tan White and LaToya Thomas have three each. 
While Vanderbilt's Zuzi Klimesova, Auburn's Tia Miller, Georgia's Christi 
Thomas and Kara Braxton and LSU's Ke-Ke Tardy and Aiysha Smith each have 
two.

SEC IN THE POLLS 
Since the AP poll began in 1983 and the USA Today/ESPN poll in 1986, the SEC 
has never failed to place at least four members in each of the final polls. 
        This season, the SEC has had three teams in the AP and USA Today/ESPN Top 
10 this season.  During the 1996-97, season five league teams graced the AP 
Top 10 three times. 
        As many as seven SEC teams have been ranked in the AP poll, while six have 
been ranked in the USA Today/ESPN poll this season.  The record for SEC 
teams ranked is eight.  The league did this twice, in the1995-96 season and 
again during the 1996-97 season. 
        In terms of rankings, the SEC has the richest history of any conference in 
the nation, boasting more poll appearances than any other.  SEC teams have 
been ranked in the AP poll for 316 consecutive weeks.  League teams have 
been ranked 2,042 times including 1,131 Top 10 appearances and 574 Top Five 
appearances.
