No. 2 Tennessee 80, No. 8 South Carolina 61

Kara Lawson scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half and No. 2 Tennessee won its 26th straight over No. 8 South Carolina with an 80-61 victory Thursday night.

Lawson made two free throws and a 3-pointer during a 15-3 run that turned a three-point deficit into a 57-48 lead for the Lady Vols (15-1, 4-0 SEC), who have won their last 28 conference regular-season games.

The Lady Gamecocks (16-2, 4-1) came in with a 12-game winning streak, victories against Vanderbilt and Georgia and had a record crowd of 12,168 at the Carolina Coliseum. And for the first 25 minutes, the fans who filled the place got what they came for.

Teresa Geter's foul shots gave South Carolina a 45-42 lead, but then the Lady Vols got going.

A breakaway basket by Loree Moore put them ahead for good 47-45. LaToya Davis followed with a similar layup, Lawson hit a long 3-pointer and Michelle Snow had a fastbreak basket to end the run.

Snow, as she did twice last season, capped the victory with a clean dunk at the 1:51 mark that brought the fans who hadn't left and her Tennessee teammates to their feet.

Snow finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, and Gwen Jackson had 17 points, among five Lady Vols in double figures.

Jocelyn Penn led the Lady Gamecocks with 19 points, but only two in the last 16 minutes.

South Carolina, helped by the loud, sellout crowd, made nine of its first 12 shots and led 20-10 with 11:10 to go. Tatyana Troina had consecutive 3-pointers during a 10-0 run as Tennessee was 0-for-4 with three turnovers.

But reserve Ashley Robinson had seven points as the Lady Vols came back with a 17-4 surge, closed by Moore's jumper, to lead 27-24.

Jackson's final bucket of the half -- she had 14 points and eight rebounds in the period -- gave Tennessee its biggest lead at 35-31.

Then, Gortman made a 3-pointer with 29.3 seconds left for South Carolina to cut the margin to 35-34 at halftime.

No. 16 Georgia 60, No. 19 Auburn 49

Sixteenth-ranked Georgia outscored No. 19 Auburn 10-0 over the final four minutes of the game to pull out a 60-49 victory on Thursday night at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.

The Tigers (13-4, 1-3 SEC) tied the game with 5:17 left in the second half on a Natasha Brackett 3-pointer, but Georgia countered with a Kara Braxton layup to take the lead for good with 4:54 to play and used the run to pull away.

Braxton finished the game for the Lady Bulldogs with a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds. Christi Thomas added 19 points and nine boards against the injury riddled Tigers. Auburn was without their two centers Tia Miller and Brandi Hillman, who were injured during the past week.

The game went back and forth for most of the game with the lead changing possession 15 times. Auburn’s largest lead was four with 14:01 left and Georgia’s largest lead was the final score of 60-49.

Le’Coe Willingham led Auburn with 16 points and seven rebounds, despite missing seven minutes in the first half after suffering a cut lip after taking an elbow in the face early in the game. Nancy Derrick added eight points, while LaKeisha Johnson had seven points and Crispina Correia chipped in with seven points and nine rebounds, replacing Miller in the starting lineup.

Georgia out rebounded the Tigers 43-38 and shot 43.9 percent from the floor, while Auburn hit just 17 of 57 shots (29.8 percent) from the field.

No. 7 Vanderbilt 69, Alabama 46

Zuzi Klimesova and Chantelle Anderson each scored 17 points to lead No. 7 Vanderbilt to a 69-46 victory over Alabama on Thursday night.

Vanderbilt (17-3, 3-1 Southeastern Conference) led just 30-24 at halftime, but opened the second half on a 12-4 run and shot 14-of-24 in the second half.

Klimesova shot 8-of-12 from the field overall and finished with 11 rebounds for the Commodores, the country's top shooting team. Anderson scored 15 second-half points after attempting only two shots in the first.

LaNisha Cartwell scored 13 points to lead Alabama (11-6, 1-3). Leading scorer Shondra Johnson had just six points, nearly nine below her average. The Tide shot just 39.6 percent and were just 1-of-3 from the free-throw line.

LSU 88, Ole Miss 57

Sophomore Temeka Johnson topped her school record with 15 assists as LSU dominated SEC rival Ole Miss with a convincing 88-57 victory on the road Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers led the entire game and improve to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the SEC while Ole Miss falls to 9-8 overall and 1-3 in the SEC. LSU returns to Baton Rouge to take on Arkansas on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Just one week after tying the 25-year-old school record with 14 assists against Florida, Johnson topped the feat with 15 assists against Ole Miss. The 15 assists ranks third in the nation in a single game. In addition, she had a career-high seven rebounds to go along with nine points.

Also having career-high nights were sophomores Doneeka and Roneeka Hodges with 23 and 21 points respectively, marking the first time this season that two players have recorded over 20 points in a game. Junior Aiysha Smith added 18 points and 10 points for the game’s only double-double.

The Lady Rebels were led by Shaundra Jackson with 16 points off the bench. and Tashondrea Moton with 13 points.

Arkansas 76, Kentucky 64
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Arkansas Sports Information) --
Junior Dana Cherry scored 22 points to lead Arkansas to its first Southeastern Conference win of the season over the Kentucky Wildcats at Bud Walton Arena on Thursday evening, 76-64.

The win improves the Lady Razorbacks to 10-6 overall and 1-3 in the Southeastern Conference while Kentucky falls to 8-9 overall and 1-4 in the SEC.

The Lady Razorbacks were able to get a majority of their players quality playing time once the game was in hand as nine players saw the court for at least 10 minutes. Cherry's 12 points in the second period kept the Lady Razorbacks on top. She would end the game with 22 to lead all scorers.

Other double digit scorers for the Lady Razorbacks included Shameka Christon with 18 and India Lewis with 11. Kentucky was led by SeSe Helm's 25.
