COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) --
Shaunzinski Gortman scored 18 points and led a pressing attack that forced 26 turnovers as South Carolina beat Georgia 64-59 on Thursday night.

With the game tied at 47, No. 9 South Carolina turned on the pressure, forcing five Georgia turnovers in the backcourt over the next 3 1/2 minutes as the team went on an 11-2 run to lead 58-49.

No. 22 Georgia had a chance to cut South Carolina's lead to two with 30 seconds left, but Ebony Felder's layup rolled off the rim.

South Carolina's win is the team's seventh in the Southeastern Conference, a new school record.

Jocelyn Penn had nine steals and scored 10 points for South Carolina (19-3, 7-2). Petra Ujhelyi and Cristina Ciocan each added 12 points.

The press had already saved the Lady Gamecocks once. Georgia, trailing 30-26 at the break, started the second half on a 14-2 run and took a 40-32 lead with 16:00 left.

After Jocelyn Penn's short jumper, South Carolina started pressing. The Lady Gamecocks got a quick turnover and Shaunzinski Gortman hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 40-37.

Georgia turned the ball over 14 times in the first half. But the Lady Bulldogs stayed in the game by drawing fouls, shooting 10-of-13 on free throws, while South Carolina never went to the line in the first half.

The win keeps South Carolina in second place in the SEC. The Lady Gamecocks have never finished better than sixth in the league.

Georgia is tied for seventh place in the SEC and is in danger of missing the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1994.

Arkansas led 10-6 early but even their tough defense couldn't keep Tennessee from scoring.

Tennessee, which lost over the weekend to Vanderbilt, stretched its halftime lead of 40-29 with an 11-2 run to start the final 20 minutes. Lawson made back-to-back baskets to start the surge, and Tasha Butts' basket two minutes later gave the Lady Vols a 51-31 lead.

Ely scored three baskets to push the lead back to 16 points a minute later as Arkansas couldn't stop Tennessee in transition. She committed her fifth foul with 7 1/2 minutes remaining.

Christon made the pair of free throws to reduce the lead to 12 points, but Lawson scored twice to put the Lady Vols back ahead 71-55 with 6:12 to go.

Another 3 by Lawson sealed it with four minutes left.

Lawson was 10-of-17 from the field, made 3-of-4 3-pointers and missed just one of eight free throw attempts. She also had seven rebounds.

The Lady Vols finished with 20 turnovers.

Both teams were in the bonus early with 22 personal fouls called in the first half, 40 total for the game. Arkansas coach Gary Blair didn't think highly of the officiating and was called for a technical with 13:45 left in the first half.

Then when Cherry was called for a charge later, Blair dropped to the floor to show his disgust.

Arkansas cut the lead to 17-16 with 8:21 left before halftime, but Tennessee scored eight quick points to start a 15-5 run.
