Jenni Benningfield had 16 points and 13 rebounds as No. 11 Vanderbilt and new coach Melanie Balcomb opened the season with a 68-51 victory over Boston University on Saturday

The Commodores outscored the Terriers 46-28 in the second half after trailing 23-22 at halftime.

Katie Terhune led the Terriers (0-1) with 20 points.

Vanderbilt will play at Syracuse on Tuesday night.

India Lewis scored 19 points and Shameka Christon added 18 as No. 17 Arkansas beat Stephen F. Austin 78-54 Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.

Ruby Vaden came off the bench for the Lady Razorbacks to score 15.

Arkansas forced 28 turnovers and held a 53-41 rebounding edge. The Lady Razorbacks scored 25 points off turnovers, to 15 for Stephen F. Austin.

Latoya Mills led Stephen F. Austin with 15 points, Nathesia Wright added 13. Amy Collins scored 11.
