GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Vanessa Hayden had 24 points and 17 rebounds to lead 20th-ranked Florida past No. 14 Colorado 61-50 Friday night.

Hayden registered a double-double by halftime and then scored the first four baskets of the second half for Florida (8-3) to widen what was an eight-point lead at the break.

Brandi McCain added 14 points and five assists for the Gators, while forward Courtney Cooper scored 10 points.

Britt Hartshorn led Colorado (9-3) with 13 points, and Jenny Roulier added 12, all on 3-pointers.

Mississippi State 71, No. 13 N.C. State 58

The Lady Bulldogs upset No. 13/17 North Carolina State 71-58 to win the Tourneo de Basquetbol championship title on Friday. Mississippi State (8-2) avenged the loss to the Wolfpack (6-4) that knocked MSU out of its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999.

Once again, the Lady Bulldogs were led by two-time all-American LaToya Thomas with 26 points and eight rebounds. Freshman standout Tan White scored 22 points, grabbed seven boards, recorded five steals and had one block.

Also in double digits for MSU was junior Keisha Stringfellow with 10 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals.

Mississippi State shot 51 percent from the field and 86 percent from the line. The Lady Bulldogs narrowly escaped having a 252-game streak of hitting a three-pointer broken. The only bucket from long-range for MSU came with eight minutes remaining in the game when Tan White too the inbounds pass with three seconds on the shot clock and heaved a shot from two feet behind the arc with two people guarding her.

The Lady Bulldogs led by as many as 13 early in the first half at 19-6, but took just a three-point lead to the locker room at 37-34. MSU began the second half with an 11-4 run to take a 10-point lead with just under 14 minutes on the clock.

The Wolfpack cut the lead to six with 10:43 on the clock, before Mississippi State ran away with the game, leading by double digits from the 10-minute mark throughout regulation. The Lady Bulldogs' largest lead was a 67-52 margin at the 1:3 mark.

MSU returns to the State on Saturday for a few days off before traveling to Ohio to finish out the non-conference season. The Lady Bulldogs play at Cincinnati on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. CST and at Xavier on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. CST. Both game will be broadcast on WFCA 107.9 FM with Bart Gregory calling the action.

South Alabama 62, Ole Miss 61 (OT)
ORLANDO, Fla. (Mississippi Sports Information) --
Sara Carter hit a three-point shot with 1.8 seconds remaining in overtime to give South Alabama a, 62-61, victory over Ole Miss in first round play at the Central Florida Holiday Classic. South Alabama came back from a 17-point halftime deficit to steal the victory.

Ole Miss (6-4) jumped out to a 37-20 halftime lead on 55.6 shooting from the field, including 4-of-8 from the three-point line. Sophomore Tywanna Inmon came off the bench to score 10 first half points and push the Lady Rebel lead to double digits.

South Alabama (9-2) stepped up the defensive pressure in the second half forcing the Lady Rebels into 11 second half turnovers as they collected eight steals. The USA defense also held Ole Miss to 24 percent shooting in the second half and just 14 points.

Despite the cold shooting in the second half, Ole Miss held a two-point lead at 51-49 with just under a minute left in regulation, but Gamble scored on a turnaround jumpshot with 30 seconds left to tie the score. Ole Miss had the ball for the final possession, but failed to score, sending the game into overtime.

Ole Miss was led by Inmon, Sherika Wright and Ally Kelly with 12 points a piece. Saundra Jackson added nine points and Von Kirk scored eight. TaShondrea Moton led the Lady Rebels on the boards with eight, while Inmon, Wright and Amber Watts each pulled down six caroms.

The Lady Rebels shot 43.1 percent from the field for the game, making 25-of-58 shots including 6-of-14 from behind the arc. They made 5-of-10 free throws and held an overwhelming edge on the boards, out-rebounding the Jaguars 44-27.

South Alabama shot 41 percent from the field making 25-of-61 shots. The Jaguars made just 3-of-22 three-point shots, but hit 9-of-14 free throws. USA turned the ball over just 12 times, with only four of those coming during the second half and overtime.

Ole Miss will return to action Saturday, when they take on host Central Florida in the final day of action at the tournament. Game time is set for 4 p.m. (CT).

Arkansas 73, Dayton 55

Junior India Lewis quietly scored 15 points to lead the University of Arkansas Lady Razorbacks to an 18-point win at Bud Walton Arena on Friday evening, 73-55 over the Dayton Fliers.

The Lady Razorback victory improves their record to 8-2 on the season, while Dayton drops to 2-8.

Taking a three-point lead to the floor after halftime, the Lady Razorbacks took the offensive after the break with a 14-2 run to take command of the game.

"The second half is what the game came down to," Dayton head coach Jaci Clark said. "They forced us into a lot of turnovers. We got a lot of chances but the game came down to poor shooting and turnovers."

Arkansas had three players in double figures. Behind Lewis' 15, Cherry came off the bench to score 14 and Harper had 11. Shameka Christon led all rebounders with 10 boards. Dayton's Emily Williams was the only Flier to notch double digits with 14 points. For the Lady Razorbacks, all 12 players saw time on the floor with five bench players playing 14-plus minutes.

The Lady Razorbacks will take their show on the road for their next contest, another non-conference match-up with Texas Christian University on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in Fort Worth, Texas.
