NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Chantelle Anderson scored 27 points to lead a balanced attack as third-ranked Vanderbilt rolled to a 106-64 rout of Canisius.

Coming off an 81-71 loss at then-No. 13 Texas Tech, the Commodores had a much easier time Monday, when they came out on fire.

Led by Anderson, who scored 17 points in the first half, Vanderbilt shot an impressive 64 percent (39-of-65) as it opened a comfortable 53-33 advantage. Anderson finished 9-of-15 from the field.

Jillian Danker added 18 points, Zuzi Klimesova 15, Ashley Earley 14 and Ashley McElhiney 11 for the Commodores (12-2), who reached the century mark in points for the second time this season. Vanderbilt posted a 102-83 victory over Western Kentucky on November 21.

Shauna Geronzin scored 30 points on 10-of-25 shooting for Canisius (5-6), which has lost two straight following a four-game winning streak.

Xavier 74, Mississippi State 72
CINCINNATI -- The Lady Bulldogs, who were down three points at halftime, held a seven-point lead with under a minute remaining but still couldn't stop the Musketeers. Mississippi State (9-4) outshot and outrebounded Xavier (5-7) but still ended up with its second straight loss in the Queen City.

"Down the stretch, you have to make free throws, make layups and use the clock," said head coach Sharon Fanning. "It was a lot of little things in the end that got us. We put ourselves in the position to win the game. We just didn't finish."

Junior all-American LaToya Thomas led the Lady Bulldogs with 22 points and nine rebounds. MSU's lone senior Jennifer Fambrough was close behind with 19 points and eight rebounds. Freshman standout Tan White was close to her heels with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Junior Keisha Stringfellow had only two points, but they were two free throws down the stretch that helped keep MSU in the game. She led the team in assists with five and blocks with two.

Freshman Ebonie Ferguson made her first collegiate start in the Maroon and White as junior transfer Renae Jones again sat out due to a sprained ankle. Ferguson played 29 minutes, scored four points, grabbed five rebounds and had two assists.

With 56 seconds remaining, State was ahead 70-63 after Stringfellow sunk two from the line. Reeta Piipari hit a three-pointer for Xavier with 49 seconds on the clock and two seconds later Ferguson was at the line for MSU.

After Ferguson made one-of-two from the charity stripe, Shavon Bell hit a bucket from long range for the Musketeers this time with 39 seconds left. Piipari fouled Fambrough, who in turn hit just one-of-two from the line.

It was Piipari who would hit Xavier's final three-pointer that tied the game at 72-72 with 29 seconds on the clock. State would then miss a shot and foul Amy Waugh, who hit both free throws with four seconds remaining to seal the victory for Xavier.

State shot 44 percent from the field, but only 27 percent from long range and 60 percent from the charity stripe. Xavier shot 42 percent from the field and only 30 percent from behind the arc, but managed 85 percent from the free-throw line.

Cincinnati was led by Piipari with 28 points, including seven three-pointers. Also in double digits for the Musketeers were Shavon Bell (17), Alexis Henderson (12) and Aida Sarajlija (10).

The Lady Bulldogs hit the road again and start Southeastern Conference action when they face Kentucky on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 7 p.m. EST. MSU's games can be heard on WFCA 107.9 FM with Bart Gregory calling the action.

Temple 84, Ole Miss 69
PHILADELPHIA -- The same pressure defense Ole Miss used to manhandle Fairleigh Dickinson in the semifinals, came back to haunt the Lady Rebels in the championship game of the Temple University Classic, as the host Owls forced Ole Miss into 23 turnovers on their way to the 84-69 win.

Ole Miss (8-5) started out strong pushing out to a 15-9 lead at the 11:21 mark of the first half. Over the next two and a half minutes Temple (5-6) outscored the Lady Rebels 13-0 to take charge of the game. Natalia Isaac and Christy Hamilton combined for all 13 of the Owls points during the run on three field goals and five free throws.

Down seven with seven minutes remaining in the first half, Ole Miss went on a run of their own taking a brief one point lead on a made lay-up by Sherika Wright at the 3:20 mark of the first half. Ole Miss entered halftime down by just three at 38-35.

Temple came out with tough defense again in the second half, immediately forcing two turnovers and converting them into baskets to take a 10 point lead early in the second period. The Lady Rebels cut the lead down to four points with 12:44 left in the game, but the Owls responded with a 7-0 run to push the lead back out to double digits. The closest Ole Miss would get the rest of the game was eight points.

"We did not play good sound defense today," said Ole Miss head coach Ron Aldy. "We seemed to be a step behind the whole game. Temple played much better defense than us and that was the difference in the game."

Wright led four Ole Miss players in double figures with a career-high 21 points. Wright also grabbed a career-high seven rebounds and led Ole Miss in assists with three. For her efforts, Wright was named to the Classic’s All-Tournament team. Wright was the only Lady Rebel on the five-member team.

In addition to Wright, Ally Kelly (12), TaShondrea Moton (11) and Von Kirk (10) each scored in double figures. Amber Watts chipped in nine points and added a game-high 10 rebounds and four blocks. Kirk also tied a career-high with nine rebounds, while Moton added seven boards.

Ole Miss shot 40 percent from the field, making 22-of-55 shots. They hit just 2-of-10 three-pointers, but did make 23-of-31 from the foul line. Ole Miss out-rebounded the Owls 45-37.

Temple connected on 25-of-63 shots from the field, good for 39.7 percent. TU made 7-of-17 three-point shots and 27-of-36 free throws. The Owls turned the ball over just 14 times. Isaac finished with a game-high 27 points for Temple and Lisa Jakubowicz added 19 points and seven rebounds.

Isaac and Athena Christoforakis of Temple joined Wright and Destiny Avent of Maryland-Eastern Shore on the All-Tournament team, while Jakubowicz was named the MVP of the two-day tournament.

Ole Miss will return the friendly confines of Tad Smith Coliseum to open Southeastern Conference play against Arkansas after playing four-straight road games. The Lady Rebels will host the Lady Razorbacks on Sunday, Jan. 6. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
