ALABAMA

Beth Vice
Senior * 5-11 * Guard * Mt. Sterling, KY

  • One of three returning starters for the Tide.
  • Only player to start and play in every game last year for UA in spite of nagging knee pains.
  • Top returning scorer for Alabama.
  • One of the best three-point shooters in the SEC and the Nation. She ranked 2nd in the SEC for both 3-point percentage (.434) and 3-pointers made per game (2.77). Also ranked among the nation's Top 20 in both categories.
  • Following three knee surgeries and a redshirt sophomore season, she has played in 61 of 62 games for the Tide in the last two seasons.
  • Had 86 treys last year, the third most in UA school history.
  • Ranks 4th all-time at Alabama for 3-pointers made with 198 in her career.
  • Needs just 138 points to join the 1,000-point Club.
  • Former Kentucky "Miss Basketball."

Shun Hunter
Senior * 5-11 * Forward * Pensacola, FL

  • Tide's "Sixth Woman" last season will look to move back into a starting role this year.
  • Consistently improved shooting each season.
  • Considered Bama's top defensive player usually drawing assignment on opponent's top player.
  • One of the team's most athletic players having competed three seasons as a long and triple jumper with UA Track & Field team.
  • Started all but one game as a sophomore.
  • Has been plagued by foot problems in her career, missing her true freshman season because of a broken foot and then eight games as a junior following surgery for a stress fracture.
  • An all-state prep performer at Pensacola HS where she teamed with former UT standout Michelle Snow to lead PHS to a state title.
  • Chosen team's "Most Improved Player" following junior season.


ARKANSAS

Shameka Christon
Junior * 6-1 * Forward * Hot Springs, AR

  • 2002 Second Team All-SEC.
  • 2002 Associated Press All-SEC honorable mention.
  • 2002 SEC All-Tournament - First Lady'Back selected.
  • 2001 Freshman All-SEC.
  • Arkansas' leading scorer in 2002 (16.7 ppg) and leading rebounder (6.7rpg).
  • Broke school record for points in a conference season as a sophomore (224 in 14 games).
  • Member of USA Basketball's Young Women's Qualifying Tournament Team.
  • 2001 Bronze Medalist with USA World Junior Championship Team.

India Lewis
Senior * 5-5 * Guard * Siloam Springs, AR

  • Arkansas second leading scorer (14.0 ppg).
  • Leader in steals (72 for season) for 2002.
  • 15th in Division I in three-pointers per game (2.8).
  • Third all-time at Arkansas for three-point goals and attempts.
  • Tied junior class record (Kimberly Wilson) with 89 made three-pointers in 2002.


AUBURN

Le'Coe Willingham
Junior * 6-0 * Forward * Augusta, GA/Hephzibah

  • Named second team All-Southeastern Conference.
  • Earned all-tournament honors at the 2001 Auburn Thanksgiving Tournament.
  • Brought in five double-doubles in 2001-02.
  • Averaged 12.0 points per game scoring 348 over the course of the season.
  • Shot 49.3 percent from the field hitting 134-of-272.
  • Tallied 235 rebounds which is fourth on Auburn's sophomore rebound list.

LaKeisha Johnson
Senior * 5-10 * Guard * Baton Rouge, LA

  • Was the only Auburn player to start all 29 games logging 848 minutes.
  • Earned her first-ever career start on opening night against Florida A&M.
  • Was 12th in the SEC in rebounds.
  • Had her first career double-double against Charleston Southern with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Claimed all-tournament honors at the 2001 Auburn Thanksgiving Classic.
  • Averaged 7.8 points per game.
  • Tallied 172 rebounds in 2001-02.


FLORIDA

Courtney Cooper
Senior * 5-9 * Guard/Forward * Miami, FL

  • UF's second-leading returning rebounder and scorer from last year, averaging 9.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in her inaugural season with the Gators.
  • Started all 29 games as a forward in 2002, ranking second on the team for minutes played (908).
  • She posted 15 double-figure scoring games and six double-figure rebounding games, tallying three double-doubles.
  • At the team's postseason banquet, Cooper was voted on by her teammates to receive The Stopper Award, given to the player who played the best defense within the team's structure.

Trish Patterson
Senior * 6-2 * Forward/Center * Toronto, Canada

  • Appeared in all 29 games during the 2001-02 season, her first year with the Gators after transferring from Miami-Dade Community College.
  • UF's first post player off the bench in 2002.
  • Ranked second on the team in field goal percentage, hitting 46.5 percent of her shots.
  • One of only two seniors on UF's extremely young 2002-03 squad.
  • Received the Gator's Most Improved Player award, an honor voted on by her teammates.
  • Averaged 3.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 2002.


GEORGIA

Mary Beth Lycett
Senior * 6-0 * Guard/Forward * McDonough, GA

  • If there was a national award for Most Improved Player, Lycett would have been a leading contender in 2001-02.
  • After serving as an understudy to Coco Miller, Kelly Miller and Deanna Nolan for two years, "M.B." more than doubled the output of her first two seasons combined in virtually every statistic this season (98 points in 2000 and '01 to 232 in '02; 5 three-pointers in 2000 and '01 to 46 in '02; 28 assists in 2000 and '01 to 73 in '02; 12 steals in 2000 and '01 to 46 in '02).
  • Named to the 2002 SEC Academic Honor Roll, an accomplishment which carries even loftier significance considering the difficulty of her degree program (finance). The UGA Terry College of Business' undergraduate program in finance ranks in the top-20 nationally among public universities.
  • Also tabbed for the 2002 SEC Good Works team as a result of her community involvement away from basketball.
  • In SEC games only, tied fourth in three-pointers per game (2.2) and ranked sixth in three-point percentage (.397).
  • Averaged a team-high 25.9 minutes per game during her junior season.
  • Only Lady Bulldog to start ever SEC game in 2001-02 and averaged a team-high 32.6 minutes per game in league action, six-and-a-half minutes more than her next-closest teammate.


KENTUCKY

Selia "SeSe" Helm
Junior * 6-4 * Center * Bowling Green, KY

  • Returns as the Cats' go-to player in middle.
  • Named second team All-SEC last season after being named to the All-SEC Freshman team in her rookie season.
  • Was among 36 of the country's top 20-and-unders selected to try out for the 2002 USA Basketball World Championship For Young Women Qualifying Team.
  • Has started in 50 of 53 games played, including 41 straight.
  • Is a member of the SEC Good Works Team.
  • Serves as the team's Student Athletic Council (SAC) representative.
  • All-America and All-SEC candidate.

Rita Adams
Senior * 5-8 * Guard * East St. Louis, IL

  • Served as the Cats' floor leader last season.
  • Led the SEC and ranked 12th nationally in steals per game.
  • Is only 5-8 but led the Cats in blocks for the second straight season.
  • Only senior on the Wildcats' roster.
  • Had a team- and conference-high 104 steals, tying current assistant coach Leslie Nichols' 22-year old record of most steals in a season.
  • Dished out 338 career assists for No. 8 on UK's all-time list, needs two more to pass Tiffany Wait at No. 7.
  • Has 250 career steals, placing her at No. 4 on the all-time steals list, needs 22 more to catch Patty Jo Hedges at No. 3 (272)


LSU

Temeka Johnson
Junior * 5-3 * Guard * New Orleans, LA

  • A 2002 honorable mention All-America selection.
  • Broke the 25-year old school record for assists in a game with 15 against SEC-rival Ole Miss. She also recorded four of the top six single-game assists marks in LSU history.
  • The SEC leader in assists per game with 7.5, she ranked third in the nation and finished the year second in school history in single-season assists, despite missing the first six games.
  • The SEC All-Tournament selection also averaged 11.1 points and 4.8 rebounds a contest, including a season-high 22 points in the conference tournament championship game against Vanderbilt.

Aiysha Smith
Senior* 6-2 * Center * Detroit, MI

  • The 2002 Louisiana Newcomer of the Year.
  • A first-team All-SEC and All-Louisiana selection, she led the team in scoring and rebounding with 15.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, putting her in the top 10 in the SEC in both categories.
  • Recorded double-figures scoring in 27 consecutive games to start the season, the fourth longest streak in LSU history. The agile center recorded eight double-doubles, which ranked her fourth in the SEC a year ago.
  • A Kodak First-Team All-American at Tyler Junior College, Smith was named the region MVP and garnered both all-conference and all-region honors.


OLE MISS

Leah Henley
Senior * 5-9 * Guard/Forward, Warren, AR

  • Selected by her teammates to be a team captain for the 2002-03 season.
  • Tough competitor that has battled through many injuries during her Lady Rebel career.
  • Last season, played in 27 games, starting four and averaged 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
  • Played most of the season injured, but missed only one game due to tonsillitis (Arkansas State).
  • Was honored at the season-ending awards banquet with the Lady Rebel Award.


MISSISSIPPI STATE

LaToya Thomas
Senior * 6-2 * Forward * Greenville, MS

  • Three-time Kodak All-American and first team All-SEC.
  • Ranked nationally in scoring in all three years of her career.
  • MSU's all-time leading scorer (men's or women's) with 2,187 points.
  • Also claimed the school's career marks for field goals made (822), free throws made (527) and free throws attempted (691).
  • Has scored in double-digits in all 94 games of her career.
  • Has led the SEC in scoring all three years of her career.

Tan White
Sophomore * 5-8 * Guard * Tupelo, MS

  • Second year starter.
  • Set MSU freshman records for assists (134) and three-pointers made (53) after starting in all 31 contests.
  • Earned first team All-SEC (coaches and AP).
  • Awarded SEC Newcomer of the Year by AP and first team Freshman All-America by womenscollegehoops.com.
  • Named SEC Player of the Week.
  • Basketball Times Freshman of the Year.


SOUTH CAROLINA

Jocelyn Penn
Senior * 6-0 * Forward * Conyers, GA

  • The Gamecocks' emotional charge who is a consistent breakaway threat.
  • Begins her senior year with 1,223 points and 561 rebounds.
  • One of only 17 South Carolina women to ever score 1,000+ points and grab 500+ boards.
  • Fifth on the all-time steals list at South Carolina with 247 thefts.
  • Has played in 87 games and started 59 so far in her career.
  • Scored in double figures 66 times in her three seasons with 30 games as the teamıs leading scorer.
  • Led the team in scoring, rebounding and steals during her junior year as she helped lead team to first NCAA Tournament appearance in 11 years.
  • Named to the East All-Region Team after averaging 13 points and eight rebounds in the four postseason tournament contests.
  • Named as the 2002 South Carolina Amateur Athlete of the Year.
  • Named to the All SEC First Team as a junior after finishing fifth in the nation in field goal percentage (.621).

Kelly Morrone
Junior * 5-7 * Guard * Syracuse, NY

  • South Carolina's vocal leader who missed the 2000-2001 season after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disk.
  • Has now played in 57 games and started 13 so far during her career.
  • Scored in double figures 15 times with two games as the team's leading scorer.
  • Returned in the 2001-2002 season and was selected as a team co-captain last year along with Jocelyn Penn.
  • Named as the SEC Co-Player of the Week (week four) after hitting eight-of-nine three pointers for a career-high 27 points in the victory over Duke.


TENNESSEE

Kara Lawson
Senior * 5-9 * Guard * Alexandria, Va.

  • Opens the 2002-03 season as a three-time All-SEC selection.
  • Named All-America by the USBWA following her junior year in which she led the Lady Vols in scoring at 15.1 ppg
  • Currently ranks as the all-time leader at Tennessee in three-pointers made (179), is second in career free throw percentage (.833), third in career three-point accuracy (.402).
  • Currently sits within range of the Lady Vol top ten in points (17th with 1,402), assists (15th with 305) and scoring average (14th at 13.4 ppg).

Gwen Jackson
Senior * 6-2 * Forward * Eufaula, AL

  • One of two returning senior starters.
  • Ranked second in rebounding average (6.2 rpg) and third in scoring (10.5 ppg) on the Lady Vols squad.
  • Will look to return to the form of her sophomore season which saw her achieve All-SEC honors.
  • Needs 104 points to become the 27th Tennessee Lady Vol to reach the 1,000 point club.
  • Top returnee in career rebounding average at 5.6 rpg.


VANDERBILT

Chantelle Anderson
Senior * 6-6 * Center * Vancouver, WA

  • Kodak All-American and Associated Press All-American.
  • Wade Trophy Finalist and Honda Award Finalist.
  • SEC Player of the Year.
  • SEC All-Tournament Team.
  • Two-Time All-SEC First Team Selection.
  • NCAA Midwest Region MVP.
  • SEC Player of the Week (Dec. 3).
  • TSWA Player of the Year.
  • ESPN the Magazine Center of the Year.
  • Team's leading returning scorer with 20.7 points a game.
  • Led the SEC, second in the nation, in field goal percentage with a 64.7 mark.
  • Needs 580 points to become VU's All-Time Leading Scorer in Basketball history-male or female.
  • Has started every game for the Commodores in three seasons.

Ashley McElhiney
Senior * 5-6 * Point Guard * Gleason, TN

  • All-SEC Second Team and AP All-SEC Second Team.
  • First Tennessee Tournament MVP.
  • Conseco Nancy Lieberman Step Up Award Top 10 List.
  • 63 assists away from becoming VU's All-Time Assists Leader with a total of 454.
  • Has played in 23 complete games.
  • Leads the team in minutes played with 3,083 for a 30.2 three-year average.
  • Owns a career free-throw percentage of 81.6 percent (239-293).
