SEC Football Leads the Nation in Defense

Southeastern Conference defenses are leading the nation when it comes to limiting yards per play. In 125 games this season, SEC teams are giving up an average of 4.79 yards per play, which is the lowest of any NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision conference.

The SEC leads the NCAA FBS conferences in rushing yards allowed per play (3.55) and passing yards allowed per play (6.18) as well.

Going into Week 13, the SEC has five of the top 15 teams in the nation in rushing defense, five of the top 18 teams in passing defense, seven of the top 25 teams in total defense and five of the top 25 teams in scoring defense.
