Team-By-Team Notes

ALABAMA Crimson Tide
Alabama recorded its 50th win of the season for the third time in school history. Staci Ramsey moved to second place on Alabama's all-time assist list pushing her career total to 353. Ramsey also extended her hitting streak to nine games, a team high this season. Jennifer Wright recorded her career high 22nd start of the season in Game 2 at Georgia. Leah White recorded her 100th career hit. Stephanie VanBrakle's home run in the first inning of Game 3 cleared the scoreboard in left field. Emily Currie scored her career high 17th run of the season. Alabama recorded season high 16 hits and tied its SEC season high 13 runs in Game 3.

ARKANSAS Lady'Backs
In non-conference action, Arkansas fell to Kansas 7-2 and 6-5, April 26, in Lawrence, Kan. In game two, the Lady'Backs charged back with a four run, seventh-inning rally that fell just short. Freshman infielder Dayna Huckabee led Arkansas at the plate as she was 4-for-6 with a double and her first career triple.

AUBURN Tigers
The Auburn softball team wrapped up its 2005 regular season by taking 2-of-3 from Kentucky in Lexington. The Tigers ended with 47 wins, the most in school history, as well as 21 victories in conference play, also a school record. Paige Jones hit four home runs and posted nine RBI in six games last week. For the season, she has 13 home runs and 44 RBI, the-second most in school history. That trails Holly Currie, who has 59 RBI this season. Currie went 4-0 in four appearances last week, giving her 22 wins this season. She has teamed with Beth DiPietro to dominate this season, with both pitchers winning 22 games apiece. They are the first Auburn duo to reach the 20-win plateau in the same season. Auburn has hit 65 home runs this season, the second most in SEC history behind the 1998 Alabama club, which hit 73.

FLORIDA Gators
The Florida Softball team was swept by Auburn and LSU last week and is now on a seven-game losing streak. The Gators close out the regular season with a doubleheader against Florida State in Gainesville on Tuesday and a three-game series at Kentucky on Saturdya and Sunday.

GEORGIA Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs captured their second Southeastern Conference championship on Saturday after earning a 5-2 win over Alabama. The Bulldogs were paced offensively in the Alabama series by a pair of freshman infielders. Jessica Doucette finished the weekend with a .400 batting average after going 4-for-10 with a double and five RBI. Katie Vickers tallied five hits and two RBI in the 2-1 series win. Georgia returns to action on Thurs., May 12, when it participates in first round action of the SEC Tournament in Gainesville, Fla. The Bulldogs will enter the field of eight teams as the No. 1 seed.

KENTUCKY Wildcats
The Wildcats won the opening game of its home series against No. 20 Auburn. The win snapped a four-game losing skid for UK and the first SEC win since Apr. 9 at Louisiana State. The victory was the second over a ranked opponent for the Wildcats who also topped then No. 4 Tennessee last month in Knoxville. The Wildcat defense turned a pair of double plays in the loss on Sunday, giving them 23 twin killings this year. Gina Florence led the team this weekend, batting .500 (3-for-6) with a double. Katie Campbell belted her sixth homerun of the season in the win over Auburn. Campbell is now one longball behind team-leader Amber Janneck. UK will wrap up the regular season when it hosts Florida next weekend, May 7-8, in Lexington.

LSU Tigers
LSU swept a three game series on the road at No. 16 Florida, the second SEC series sweep of the season for the Tigers, clinching a spot for LSU in the SEC Tournament. Sophomore pitcher Emily turner went 2-0 with a pair of complete game shutouts in three appearances. She allowed one earned run in 18.1 innings pitched while striking out 14. Sophomore outfielder Leslie Klein hit .600 on the weekend, including a pair of doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. The Tigers close out the regular season this weekend at home against nationally ranked Tennessee. The pair split a doubleheader in Knoxville, Tenn., last season in their last meetings.

OLE MISS Rebels
Ole Miss went 1-3 on the week with a 4-0 win over Mississippi State to claim the season series two games toone. In the win, Dana Brill picked up her ninth win of the season as she pitched a complete-game, two hit shutout of the Bulldogs. The game, which was played in Madison, Miss., as part of three single games at separate sites drew 1,112 fans. Chloe Kloezeman hit a two-run home run and DeDe Justice hit a solo home run to help the Rebels to the win. The Rebels dropped all three games of the season series to the No. 11 ranked Tennessee Lady Vols over the weekend, suffering elimination from the SEC Tournament race.

MISSISSIPPI STATE Bulldogs
Having enjoyed their first off weekend this season over the weekend, Mississippi State clinched its eighth consecutive SEC Tournament bid on Sunday afternoon on the shoulders of a Tennessee sweep of Ole Miss in Oxford. Only three teams - Alabama, Florida and LSU - have a longer such streak than the Bulldogs. Having shattered MSU's six-year-old freshman home run record with a pair of dingers at Florida last weekend, freshman Courtney Bures is just three home runs shy of two-time SEC Player of the Year Iyhia McMichael's school record of 18. The Bulldogs will wrap up their 2005 regular season campaign this weekend at South Carolina, before heading to Gainesville on Monday morning to begin preparations for the SEC Tournament.

SOUTH CAROLINA Gamecocks
The Gamecocks will wrap up their 2005 regular season this weekend when they host Mississippi State. This will mark the final home games for seniors Meghan Cornett, Kristin Hall and Aleca Johnson. The Gamecocks currently hold the No. 8 seed in the tournament and are looking to advance to their ninth consecutive SEC Tournament.

TENNESSEE Lady Vols
The Lady Vols bounced back from a 4-6 stretch to win five straight contests last week. With the second win over Marshall, the Big Orange recorded its 50th win of the season, becoming only the second team this season to do so. East Carolina had a 51-15 record at the time. Following the week's play, UT has 53 wins, only two shy of the school record of 55 set by last season's team (55-16). Sophomore pitcher Monica Abbott tossed her fifth no-hitter of the season, ninth of her career, and the Big Orange's eighth of the campaign in UT's 4-0 win over Ole Miss in game one. Tennessee dramatically rallied from a 1-0 deficit with nobody on and two outs in the seventh for a 3-1 win over Ole Miss in the middle game. Four singles combined with an error on one of the hits plated the three runs for the Lady Vols. In the 9-0 (5 inn.) win in the series finale, UT recorded its first SEC run-rule victory since topping South Carolina 12-0 (5 inn.) on March 15.
