TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES

ALABAMA Crimson Tide - Alabama went 2-0 over the weekend picking up their 13th consecutive victory over both Ole Miss and Miss. State dating back to 1998. The Tide's win over MSU was UA's first five game victory of the season. Sophomore Bridget Fuentez had a career best 23 kills against the Bulldogs. Alabama's 16-3 record is the best after 19 games since volleyball returned to Alabama in 1989. The mark is also the best since the 1980 team started 16-3 as well. Alabama hosts South Carolina and Tennessee this upcoming weekend.

ARKANSAS Lady Razorbacks - The University of Arkansas went 1-1 over the weekend downing LSU on Wednesday but falling at Kentucky Friday. Arkansas breaks from Southeastern Conference action hosting St. Louis Tuesday and returns to league play hosting Mississippi and Mississippi State this weekend.

AUBURN Tigers - The 7-7 (1-5 SEC) Auburn volleyball team returns home for weekend action against Tennessee and South Carolina after struggling in the Magnolia State this past weekend. The Tigers gave both Mississippi teams its first win in the overs as both the Bulldogs and Rebels swept the Tigers. Auburn will have a change to even the title with MSU in two weeks in Auburn but does not play Ole Miss again in regular season competition.

FLORIDA Gators - The Florida will look to remain the only undefeated team in conference play against Georgia on Wednesday in a Sun Sports televised match. The Gators have won all 37 meetings between the two teams since Mary Wise became head coach in 1991. The Bulldogs have won just 13 games in those 37 meetings. Jane Collymore moved into sixth in Florida history when she passed Lyra Vance in career points with 1,597.0

GEORGIA Bulldogs - Georgia's Julia Petrsuchke moved into fourth place on the all-time SEC list for career kills at 1,885 as the Bulldogs split two matches last weekend. That number is second in Georgia history, trailing Priscilla Pacheco (1991-94) who ended her career with the SEC record of 2,675 kills (5th NCAA). The Bulldogs hit the road for two conference matches this week, playing at Florida on Wednesday and at Kentucky on Sunday. Georgia fell to both teams earlier this year in three games.

KENTUCKY Wildcats - The Wildcats swept a pair of SEC matches over the weekend to move to 4-2 in Southeastern Conference play, its best start since the 1998 season. The Wildcats opened weekend action with a 3-1 victory over Arkansas, UK's first win over the Razorbacks since 1996. Amy Kaplan led the Wildcats with 16 kills on .424 hitting, while libero Jenni Casper tallied 31 digs in the victory. Kentucky topped its league win total from a year ago Sunday with a 3-1 win over LSU. Casper totaled 22 digs to move herself into the top spot on UK's all-time career digs chart. Her career total stands at 1,201.

LSU Tigers - LSU closed out its monumental 17-match road trip to open the 2005 season last week. The Tigers have gone 13-4 in those 17 matches, while traveling almost 10,000 miles and being away from Baton Rouge for 26 of 46 days over the first seven weeks of the season. Senior Ivana Kuzmic posted her 650th career block against Kentucky as she averaged a team-best 2.00 blocks per game for the week.

OLE MISS Rebels - Ole Miss snapped an eight-match losing streak on Sunday when the Rebels defeated the Auburn Tigers 3-0 to pick up the first conference win of the season. Nikki Hill and Jaclyn Toohey led the Rebels with 17 kills each in the match against the Tigers, but it was Tricia Agee who stepped up the most for the Rebels. Agee hit a career-high .600 against Auburn with 10 kills and only one error on her last attack of the game. Agee also came up with 1 BS and 4 BA to help the Rebels out-block Auburn 11-to-6 at the net. Ole Miss will take to the road this weekend to begin a five-game road swing with the Arkansas Lady 'Backs and the LSU Tigers. The road swing will then continue with Memphis, Alabama and Mississippi State.

MISSISSIPPI STATE Bulldogs - Mississippi State (10-5, 1-4 SEC) continues SEC Western Division competition on the road this weekend with league matches at LSU and Arkansas. MSU will be the first home opponent for LSU. MSU broke into the SEC win column last Friday, blanking Auburn 3-0 and came within a point of registering a weekend sweep of visiting Alabama teams. In a Sunday match match against Alabama MSU won the opening two games and served at match point twice in game three before the Crimson Tide rallied to win in five games. Sophomore Eva Kriegel set a team season-high with 25 digs and sophomore middle Erin Seago tallied a career-high 14 kills against Bama.

SOUTH CAROLINA Gamecocks - The Gamecocks are still looking for their first SEC road win as they went 0-2 this past weekend, dropping matches to Georgia and No. 5 Florida. Shonda Cole is 74 kills shy of the 1,000 career kill mark, while Sarah Morgan is 60 digs shy of making USC's all-time leaders list. The Gamecocks travel to Alabama and Auburn this weekend in search of snapping a two-match losing streak.

TENNESSEE Lady Volunteers - The Lady Vols saw a couple of milestones be reached in their 3-0 win at Georgia on Sunday as senior setter Julie Knytych recorded her 5,000th career assist, becoming just the second Lady Vol and 10th SEC player to do so, and senior libero Amy Morris tallied her 1,000th career dig. She is the eighth UT player to attain membership in that club, which is especially impressive as it was done in less than three years. Morris spent her freshman season at Penn State. Tennessee heads for its sixth weekend on the road out of eight to start the season with matches at Auburn and Alabama.
