    COMMODORE TEAM NOTES
South Carolina defeated Vanderbilt, 35-28, in the Commodores last outing on Oct. 22. Jay Cutler was 27 of 49 in pass attempts, and had a career-high 339 yards in the air. Cutler added another all-time Commodore passing record to his collection, becoming the team career leader in pass completions. Cutler now has 616 completions for his career. His favorite target of the night, by far, was Earl Bennett. Bennett, a true freshman, caught 16 passes for 204 yards (both career highs) and his first career touchdown. Bennett became the leading freshman receiver ever in terms of catches. He has 46 receptions, surpassing Boo Mitchell's total of 45 receptions in 1985. He ranks second all-time in receiving yards by a freshman with 535. Defensively, senior linebacker Moses Osemwegie again led the Commodores with 14 tackles and a quarterback hurry. Senior nickelback Cheron Thompson intercepted a pass from Blake Mitchell, running it back 13 yards for a touchdown.
