HIGHLIGHTS FROM TODAY'S SEC FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME COACHES MEDIA TELECONFERENCE (Sunday, Nov. 27)

    LSU HEAD COACH LES MILES

(On facing Georgia) "Georgia is very talented and very strong on defense. It's going to be a great matchup. There are a lot of similarities between the two teams and we will need to play very well to win."

(On looking back on the season) "When you get to high ground, you get to look back and it's a common practice. We have eliminated any open weeks and we have gone and we have caught a pretty fast pace and we are performing well. When you look back you realize a different start and we could be talking about an undefeated LSU team. We have overcome the obstacles of hurricanes and the absence of bye weeks. This team has a great perspective and they haven't spent a lot of time looking back. They can see the task at hand, and they are focused on it to achieve it."

(On battling through a season) "There was a point in time before we played our first game that I thought we were half way. As we approached midway, I had the feeling that we were close to over. The player and coaches did a great job with an unusual start. The success has made it go much quicker. As a general overview, the enthusiasm that surrounds this program has made this season very enjoyable."

    GEORGIA HEAD COACH MARK RICHT

(On facing LSU) "We are in the process of getting caught up with the ball game we just played, making corrections we need to make and then move forward to the LSU game. I have an awful lot of respect for Coach Miles and what his group has done. He has just about won them all. It's going to be a heck of a challenge for us. I don't see any great opportunities to exploit anything. We are scratching our heads to figure out how to attack these guys."

(On playing a day later than LSU) "I think it is a disadvantage certainly. They have had a day and a half to look at film. They have been able to have some rest. We had the late ballgame and we are trying to get back into the grind here. I think as the week goes on we will get caught up, but it would have been nice to have an extra day I promise you."

(On field position) "The field position will be very important in this game. It usually is when you have two strong defensive teams that are playing well. Offenses are making plays here and there but not enough to sustain and 80-yard drive. If you force an offense to go 70 or 80 yards, it's tough to do. The one thing that you can do to change that is have a great return. I am sure that will be a key matchup and one to watch."
