Harris Announces Panelists for 2006 College Football Poll

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Harris Interactive® today announces that it has finalized the recruitment of the panel for the 2006 Harris Interactive College Football PollSM that has been commissioned by the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). For a second season the poll will be one of the components in the BCS Standings Formula used to determine the two teams that will play in the BCS National Championship game and those that qualify for at-large selection.

This 2006 Harris Interactive College Football Poll is comprised of 114 panelists and includes former coaches, players, administrators and current and former media. The panel has been randomly drawn by Harris Interactive from among more than 300 nominations supplied by the 11 Division I-A conferences and independent institutions. This panel meets Harris Interactive criteria for sample design and is a statistically reliable representation of all 11 Division I-A conferences and independent institutions.

These participants' names will soon be posted to www.harrisinteractive.com/bcspoll, and each week, beginning on September 24th, the Harris Interactive College Football Poll overall rankings will be released and posted to the Harris Interactive website. Only for the final rankings of the season, on December 3rd, will the participants' individual rankings be released.

The Bowl Championship Series formula for the 2006 season will consist of the Harris Interactive College Football Poll, the USA Today Coaches Poll, and an average of six computer rankings (Anderson & Hester, Richard Billingsley, Colley Matrix, Kenneth Massey, Jeff Sagarin and Peter Wolfe). The first BCS standings will be released on October 15th.
