POLL EXPLANATION & ABOUT THE BCS:

To derive a team's poll percentages in the Harris Interactive and USA Today polls, each team's point total is divided by a maximum 2850 possible points in the Harris Interactive Poll and 1575 possible points in the USA Today Poll. Teams are assigned an inverse point total (25 for #1, 24 for #2, etc.) for each of their respective computer poll rankings to determine the overall computer component. The highest and lowest ranking for each team is dropped, and the sum total of the remaining four rankings is divided by 100 (the maximum possible points). This figure produces a Computer Rankings Percentage.

The six computer ranking providers are Anderson & Hester, Richard Billingsley, Colley Matrix, Kenneth Massey, Jeff Sagarin and Peter Wolfe. Each computer ranking accounts for schedule strength within its formula. The BCS Average is calculated by averaging the percent totals of the Harris Interactive and USA Today Polls, and Computer rankings. The highest BCS Average receives the #1 ranking, the second highest receives #2, and so forth.

Kentucky's fourth win of the season surpasses last year's victory total (three) with four more games to play. UK has also equaled last season's SEC win total with three more league games to play. MSU's 24 rushing yards were the fewest by a UK opponent since 1996 (Vanderbilt, -29 yards). It is the first time the Cats have held an SEC opponent under 100 yards rushing since 2003 vs. Florida (93). Kentucky quarterback Andre' Woodson passed for multiple touchdowns for the seventh time in his career and the fifth time this season. Woodson finished the game 19-for-28 for 284 yards, three TD passes and an interception. UK improved to 4-1 this season in games when Woodson completes over 60 percent of his attempts. Mississippi State's first quarter conversion of 3rd-and-12 was the Bulldogs' first conversion of third and more than 10-to-go this season. MSU had been 0-for-21 prior to the completion from sophomore quarterback Michael Henig to senior wide receiver Will Prosser. Henig's 75-yard pass to junior wide receiver Tony Burks in the second quarter was the longest pass of his career. It was Burks' longest touchdown reception of his career. Henig's 384 passing yards is MSU's first 300-yard day since Kevin Fant threw for 360 yards against Houston (9/20/03). Henig set a new career high with three touchdown passes. Henig's two-week total of 618 is the second-highest total over a 2-game span in school history.

    COMMODORE TEAM NOTES
With four victories on the season, Vanderbilt has reached four wins in consecutive years for the first time since 1993-94 seasons when the Commodores went 5-6. It is the third consecutive win in non-SEC play for the Commodores. The 45 points are the most scored by the Commodores since scoring 51 points against Tennessee-Chattanooga Sept. 6, 2003. Nickson became the first Commodore quarterback to surpass 200 passing yards and 100 rushing yards in a game since Jay Cutler achieved the feat versus Furman Sept. 7, 2002. Nickson established career highs in passing yards (250) and rushing yards (150) in the win. It was the most rushing yards by a Commodore quarterback since Van Heflin ran for 167 against Air Force on Nov. 17, 1979. Earl Bennett caught nine passes for 184 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown. It was a season high for receiving yardage by the standout sophomore. Kevin Joyce led the Commodore defense with 13 tackles (9 solo) and one quarterback sack for a 7-yard loss.
