  • Bennett caught 13 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns in Vanderbilt's 41-17 win against Richmond.
  • The 13 catches is the most by an SEC player in an opening game.
  • His 223 receiving yards is a school record (Old Mark: 222 by Clarence Sevillian, 1992 vs. Tennessee).
  • It marked Bennett's eighth game with 100+ receiving yards and eighth game with 10-or-more receptions.
  • With 174 career receptions, Bennett ranks 14th all-time in SEC history.

  • Mouzon was credited with nine tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one tackle for loss in Ole Miss' 23-21 win at Memphis.
  • Mouzon returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown late in the second quarter, which gave the Rebels a 23-0 lead.
  • It is the longest interception return in the SEC since 2003 (Odell Thurman, Georgia, vs. Auburn) and the longest at Ole Miss since 1962 (103, Louis Guy vs. Tennessee).
  • His fumble recovery occurred in the first half at the Memphis 9-yard line.

  • Jones accounted for 287 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in Arkansas' 46-26 win against Troy.
  • He had three kickoff returns for 144 yards, including a 90-yard return for a touchdown in the second quarter that gave the Razorbacks a 20-7 lead.
  • Jones also rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown against the Trojans.
  • After the first weekend, he ranks second in the nation in kickoff return average and second in all-purpose yardage.

  • After starting every game for the Bulldogs at guard in 2006, Velasco anchored the offense at center during Georgia's 35-15 win against Oklahoma State.
  • Velasco helped pave the way for the Bulldog running backs to pick up 142 rushing and 376 total offensive yards against the Cowboys.
  • The Bulldog offensive line allowed just two sacks and had five offensive drives of eight-plays-or-more.

  • Groves had five tackles, three for losses, including two quarterback sacks and a forced fumble in Auburn's 23-13 win against Kansas State.
  • Late in the fourth quarter, Groves sacked Kansas State's QB and stripped the ball in the process, allowing Antonio Coleman to return the fumble for a touchdown, preserving the Auburn win.
  • Groves now has 25 career sacks, which is one shy of tying the Auburn career sacks record (26, Gerald Robinson).

  • Grant rushed for 134 yards on 18 carries and three touchdowns - all in the first half - in Alabama's 52-6 win against Western Carolina.
  • In the Tide's first play from scrimmage against the Catamounts, Grant scored on a 47-yard run.
  • The three rushing scores are the most for a Tide player since 2003 (Shaud Williams vs. Kentucky).
  • Grant also caught two passes for 13 yards.


OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES FROM WEEK 1

C ANTOINE CALDWELL (Alabama) -- Crimson Tide offense churned out 575 total yards, 313 rushing yards and 35 first downs (school record) against Western Carolina.

PK ALEX TEJADA (Arkansas) -- A true freshman, Tejada was a perfect 4-for-4 in field goals and hit all four PATs against Troy.

PK WES BYRUM (Auburn) -- A true freshman, Byrum connected on 3-of-4 field goals and hit two PATs against Kansas State.

QB TIM TEBOW (Florida) -- Connected on 13-of-17 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 44 yards on eight carries against Western Kentucky.

DE RODERICK BATTLE (Georgia) -- Accounted for five tackles, half-sack and three QB pressures against Oklahoma State. Bulldogs held OSU to just 70 yards rushing.

QB ANDRE' WOODSON (Kentucky) -- Completed 20-of-29 passes for 250 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions against Eastern Kentucky.

SS CRAIG STELTZ (LSU) -- Tied LSU single-game record with three interceptions and helped hold Miss. State to just 146 total offensive yards.

DE GREG HARDY (Ole Miss) -- Logged nine tackles, two for losses, with four QB pressures, one sack and a pass deflection against Memphis. Also, caught a 16-yard TD pass against the Tigers.

LB DOMINIC DOUGLAS (Miss. State) -- Led Bulldogs with nine tackles, and also had a sack and a tackle for loss against LSU.

P/PK RYAN SUCCOP (South Carolina) -- Averaged 45.0 yards on three punts, including one inside the 20, and had four touchbacks on five kickoffs against UL-Lafayette.

QB ERIK AINGE (Tennessee) -- Completed 32-of-47 passes for 271 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions against California.

CB D.J. MOORE (Vanderbilt) -- Had 11 total tackles, with nine solos, an interception and averaged 33.3 yards on three kickoff returns against Richmond.
