SEC Golfers of the Week


 The SEC Golfers of the Week, which includes statistics for the spring season as of Feb. 18 are:

 

MEN – David Lingmerth, Senior, Arkansas

·        Tied for medalist honors at the Battle at the Beach Tournament at Pelican Hill North Golf Course in Newport Coast, Calif., Feb. 14-16.

·        Shot an eight-under-par 205 for the tournament (course par 71), tying University of Washington’s Chris Williams for the tournament individual title.  The score was a career best.

·        Lingmerth helped the Razorbacks to a second-place tie in the tournament with Washington, just one shot behind winner UCLA.

·        He fired a career-best 64 on the third and final round to move from 10th to 1st over the final 18 holes.

·        The tournament included six of the top 30 golf teams in the nation.

·        Lingmerth has placed in the top 10 in six of seven tournaments this season, claiming his first collegiate win.

·        His stroke average for the season is currently 70.59.

 

 

WOMEN – Marta Silva Zamora, Sophomore, Georgia

·        Tied for second place at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Trump International Golf Course in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Feb. 7-9.

·        Shot a four-under-par 212 in three rounds, tying with Hannah Burke of Baylor.  The individual medalist was Oklahoma State’s Caroline Hedwall, who shot a seven-under 209.

·        She notched her seventh and eighth par-or-better rounds (in 15 loops played in 2009-10) by shooting 70 and 69 in the first and second rounds, respectively.

·        She posted per third top-five individual showing in six tournaments this season.

·        She helped lead the Bulldogs to a fourth place finish in a field that included six of the top 31 teams in the nation.

·        She has lowered her scoring average to 71.73, well under the Georgia school record of 72.63, set by Taylor Leon in 2006-07.
