· The two SEC teams with the best overall records since 1999 – Florida and Georgia – meet in Jacksonville on Saturday. The Gators lead the SEC with a 103-33 (.757) record since 1999 while the Bulldogs are second with a 102-33 mark (.756).
· Florida QB Tim Tebow tied an SEC career record with his 49th rushing touchdown against Mississippi State. He is also 32 rushing yards away from breaking SEC career rushing yardage mark by a quarterback. The mark is currently held by Arkansas’ Matt Jones, who had 2,535 yards from 2001-04. Tebow now has 2,503 yards.
· The SEC has five teams ranked in this week’s polls. Florida is ranked 1st in all four major polls – Associated Press, USA Today, Harris Interactive and BCS Rankings. Alabama is 2nd while LSU is 9th in all four major polls. South Carolina is 21st in AP, USA Today and Harris and 22nd in the BCS rankings. Ole Miss is 24th in AP, 22nd in USA Today, 23rd in Harris and 25th in the BCS rankings.
· The five SEC teams in the top 25 represents the most of any NCAA FBS Conference.
· The SEC has a 28-5 non-conference record (.848) this season, best among NCAA FBS Conferences.
· In 51 home games, SEC attendance is 3,885,857, which is 98.45 percent of total capacity. Seven SEC schools – Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU and Tennessee – are all at 100 percent capacity or higher.
· Since 2004, at least four SEC teams have been ranked in the NCAA FBS top 20 in either total defense or scoring defense. Since 2004, ten of the 12 SEC teams have finished in the top 20 in either total or scoring defense at least once. So far in 2009, the SEC has five teams in the NCAA FBS top 20 in total defense (Florida-1; Alabama-4; Tennessee-10; South Carolina-14; Ole Miss-20) and four teams in the top 20 in scoring defense (Florida-2; Alabama-4; Ole Miss-9; LSU-12).
· In all nine weekly AP polls this season (including pre-season), the SEC has had at least three teams ranked in the AP Top 10. Since 1992, the SEC has had three-or-more teams ranked in the AP Top 10 in 123 of 297 polls, which is 41.4 percent of the time. In every season since expansion, the SEC has had at least one week per season when it had three teams in the Top 10.
· After eight weeks, SEC teams have scored 263 offensive touchdowns and 131 field goals. That equates to 66.7 percent of all offensive scores coming from TDs and 33.3 percent from field goals. It is also the highest percentage of field goals in a single-season in the SEC since 1992, when SEC teams accounted for 172 field goals (35.3 percent) and 315 offensive touchdowns (64.7 percent).
· The South Carolina-Tennessee series represents the third closest series (by scoring margin) in the SEC since 2000 and the closest intra-divisional rivalry. In nine games since 2000, the average winning margin in the series is 7.44 points. The closest series’ are Florida-Ole Miss (3.25 points) and LSU-Tennessee (6.67 points).
· Since 2004, the SEC is second among NCAA FBS conferences in intra-conference scoring margin. In 273 intra-conference games, the average winning margin in SEC games since 2004 is 13.44. The ACC is 1st at 13.10 points per game. 87 SEC intra-conference games have been decided by five points or less since 2004 while 139 have been decided by 10 points or less. That’s 50.9 percent of all SEC vs. SEC games have been decided by 10 points or less since 2004.
· Every SEC team has scored a non-offensive touchdown this season. Mississippi State leads the SEC with six while Georgia and Kentucky have four each.
