TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Elizabeth Williams had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 7 Duke to a 90-40 rout of Alabama in the season opener on Sunday.
Williams is the only returning starter for the Blue Devils (1-0), who are picked to finish second in the ACC.
Duke scored 22 of the first 24 points to blow the game open from the start. Rebecca Greenwell added 17 points and 10 rebounds for Duke, while Oderah Chidom had 17 points. The Blue Devils had four players in double digits.
Freshman Hannah Cook led Alabama (1-1) with 19 points. Ashley Williams scored eight.
Duke shot 55 percent from the floor and held Alabama to just 26 percent shooting. The Blue Devils outrebounded the Tide 55-22 and scored 28 points off turnovers. Duke was 25-of-34 from the free-throw line.
