BATON ROUGE, La. -- No. 5 seed Tennessee advanced to the championship game of the SEC Softball Tournament with a 2-1 upset of top-seeded Florida. Tennessee junior Erin Gabriel pitched a gem for six innings, striking out 10 and allowing only three hits and one run.

"I was just trying to go one pitch at a time and not make the game bigger than it was," said Gabriel. "It's huge because we're a really young team and it's my first year without an injury pitching. It's such a great feeling - there is so much adrenaline going right now."

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth when Tennessee plated its two runs. Scarlet McSwain singled to score Megan Geer followed by an RBI from Tory Lewis to bring in Meghan Gregg.

Taylore Fuller put Florida on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run, but Rainey Gaffin closed the game in the circle for the Vols and held off the Gators' comeback attempt.

"We've really struggled, but we've played hard against some hard teams," said Tennessee center fielder Tory Lewis. "Sometimes we've come out on top and sometimes we're the underdog, but it's a special feeling to come out here and do something that a lot of people didn't think we could do."

The loss is the first of the season for Florida pitcher Lauren Haeger, who is now 24-1.

Tennessee improved to 42-13 while Florida is now 50-6.

The Lady Vols face No. 2 seed Auburn in the championship game tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. CT / 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. Tennessee won the league's tournament title in 2006 and 2011, while this will be Auburn's first appearance in the championship game.
