Nakeyta Clair named SEC Volleyball Player of the Week

Clair was named MVP of the Magnolia Invitational as she tallied 38 kills and hit .567 in leading the Rebels to their eighth Magnolia Invitational title in nine years. She had only four errors in all three matches. It was the second year in a row that Clair was named MVP of the Rebels' opening tournament. She averaged 3.80 kills per set and 4.25 points per set to lead all players. Trailing 22-19 late in the second set against Northwestern State, Clair tallied three of the final six points to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead in the match.

Alhassan racked up a career best and school record 14 block assists in UF's season-opener at JMU to defensively help guide the Gators to a season-opening sweep against JMU in Harrisonburg, Va. In Sunday's four-set win at American, she put down 12 kills, the second-most on the Gators team and was one of four players with double-digit kills in the match as UF started the season 2-0 on the road. Alhassan was one block shy of her third career double-double against the Eagles in her hometown area of Washington, D.C., and ranks first for the Gators with a staggering 3.29 blocks per set and second in hitting efficiency (.333) and points per set (4.43) so far through two matches.

Edie was named to the Magnolia Invitational All-Tournament Team for the second year in a row after passing out 125 assists (12.5/set), setting up the Rebels to hit .328 for the tournament as a team in winning the tournament for the eighth time in nine years. The Rebels have now won 17 straight non-conference matches dating back to last season. Edie also had 0.50 aces per set and 2.20 digs per set.
Brenna McIlroy • Auburn

McIlroy was named the War Eagle Invitational MVP after averaging 3.21 kills/set in her first collegiate weekend. She led Auburn in kills vs. Stephen F. Austin (17) and Jacksonville (18). McIlroy also had three service aces in fourth set vs. Samford. She recorded double-doubles in first two collegiate matches.
