• On the 40th anniversary of awarding female athletic scholarships, South Carolina celebrated "The First 18" recipients of them, including Denise Nanney.

• A standout forward for the Gamecocks, she still ranks 14th in program history in scoring with 1,388 career points. • Her 17.8 points per game are the fourth-best scoring average in school history, and her 11.2 rebounds per game rank her second.

• She holds two of the top four single-season averages in program history, pulling down 12.1 per game as a junior in 1975-76 and 12.0 her sophomore year.

• Her 24 rebounds against Anderson in January 1975 remained the school record for 33 years and are still the second most by a Gamecock in a single game.
