TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Alabama offense collected 10 hits leading to 11 runs as the Crimson Tide claimed the series victory over Tennessee with an 11-3 win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. UA improves to 15-7 overall and 4-1 in SEC play with the win.
Tennessee struck first in Saturday's game one, scoring single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings. Alabama rallied back for four in the sixth and a season-high seven runs in the seventh inning to claim the eventual 11-3 win.
The Crimson Tide offense was highlighted by Cody Henry's 2-for-5 game which included a pair of doubles, a team-high four RBI and two runs scored. Also adding multiple RBI was Cobie Vance, who finished with three on his 1-for-4 day, and Will Haynie, who finished 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored.
Kyle Cameron (2-1) earned his second win of the season, working 1.1 innings and walking one batter while striking out one. Jake Walters worked another solid start, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing two runs (one earned) with four hits, a walk and five strikeouts.
Alabama will go for the series sweep this evening at 8 p.m. CT. The Crimson Tide will call on junior Nick Eicholtz while the Volunteers counter with The two teams will play the second game of the doubleheader on the SEC Network with Dave Neal and Chris Burke on the call.
