AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn blasted its way back to the NCAA Super Regionals on Sunday, thanks to a steady parade of hits that included a Tiffany Howard grand slam in a 14-2 victory over Jacksonville State.
The Tigers went 3-0 in the Auburn Regional and will play host to either Tennessee or Arizona in the Super Regional next weekend. The Vols and Arizona played each other for the right to visit Jane B. Moore Field.
Howard, who didn't hit a home run in her first 677 college at-bats, has now hit homers in the SEC Tournament and the NCAAs.
Auburn scored four in the first inning, one in the second and six in the third in the five-inning run-rule victory.
The Tigers improved to 52-9, including two wins over Jacksonville State in the regional. The Gamecocks, who played long into the night with two wins Saturday, ended their season at 43-17.
Courtney Shea drove in one and Madi Gipson two more in the four-run first. Auburn scored a run on a wild pitch in the second, then hammered the Gamecocks with Howard's grand slam and RBIs from Jenna Abbott and Kasey Cooper in the third.
Emily Carosone drove in two in Auburn's three-run fourth inning.
