Mississippi State forces Game 7
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Jacob Billingsley threw MSU's second complete game of the season with an 8-1 victory early Monday against the Golden Eagles to force a winner-take-all championship game.
The Bulldogs erased a 1-0 deficit by scoring five times in the third inning. Mangum got the Bulldogs going with an RBI-single. MSU scored the go-ahead run on a balk call.Lovelady followed with his first home run of his MSU career- a three-run shot to left field.
The Bulldogs stretched the lead on a two-run home run by Rooker in the sixth inning and a sacrifice fly from Lovelady in the seventh inning.
Billingsley (2-3) threw the team's first nine-inning complete game of the season. Konnor Pilkington had previously thrown an eight-inning complete game at Arkansas to open SEC play. Billingsley allowed six hits and one run (earned), with five strikeouts and four walks on 124 pitches.
MSU finished with 13 hits. Vansau had three hits, while Ryan Gridley, Brown and Mangum each had two hits.
