LSU falls to No. 9 San Diego 3-1

LOS ANGELES--The LSU volleyball team finished its season in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with a four-set , 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 25-21, loss to No. 9 San Diego Friday evening at host Southern California's Galen Center.

The Tigers finished their season with a 20-10 overall record and its first trip back to the NCAA Tournament since 2014. LSU now has a 14-15 record in the NCAA Tournament.

Team Notes

Senior Gina Tillis compiled her 29th career double-double and 13th of the season with 18 kills and 14 digs. She also recorded three blocks.

Jacqui Armer had a team-high .550 hitting percentage as she had 12 kills and one error on 20 attempts. The sophomore also had a career-high three service aces and a career-best four digs. Her previous highs were one and three respectively.

Sophomore setter Anna Zwiebel recorded 43 assists and freshman Raigen Cianciulli held down the back row with 23 digs.

LSU had four players with 10+ kills in Tillis, Armer, Taylor Bannister (11) and Toni Rodriguez (11).

The Tigers out-hit San Diego .253-.246, marking the first time since November 15, 2013, against Auburn when the TIgers outhit an opponent and fell in the competition.
