UCF struck first on Wednesday night in the opening frame. Ray Alejo led off the game with a double and Rylan Thomas made it 2-0 with his fourth home run of the season.

Florida's Jordan Butler was solid after allowing the home run in the first inning, giving up just one hit over the next four innings before being replaced by Tommy Mace.
The Knights immediately got the run back in the sixth inning on Matthew Mika's solo home run to left field. UCF made it 4-1 in the seventh with a RBI single from pinch hitter Chandler Robertson.
Blake Reese's RBI single in the eighth cut the deficit to two runs, but the Gators left the bases loaded as UCF closer Bryce Tucker escaped the inning.
