The Southeastern Conference 2019 Class of Women's Legends showcases former student-athletes and coaches from all 14 SEC member institutions.
Head Coach Karen Bahnsen was the first LSU Women's Golf scholarship student-athlete when the program began in 1979. As a student-athlete, she competed in 1981 AIAW Golf Championships finishing in 21st place as well as the inaugural NCAA 1982 W. Golf Championships finishing in 16th place. A few years later, she was named the Head Coach for the LSU Women's Golf team in 1984 and spent 34 seasons and 2 SEC Coach of the year honors leading the Women's Golf program. In 2011 and 2012, LSU Women's Golf earned 3rd place finishes at the NCAA Championships and in 2011, Bahnsen coached Austin Ernst who won the 2011 NCAA Individual Championship and is a current member of the LPGA. As LSU Head Coach, her teams made 12 NCAA Final appearances, won 40 tournaments and has placed 23 players on professional tours In 2008, Karen Bahnsen was inducted into the Women's Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame along with the Mobile, Al Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
